Every evening (except Sundays) at 5:30, we gather on the main terrace as the sun sets over the jungle.

We begin with the Check-in — a simple but powerful practice where everyone gets the chance to speak freely about how they feel, and everyone else listens… fully, without interruption.

Then we move into a 30-minute guided meditation with Guillermo — shifting from racing thoughts into real stillness, from thinking into feeling.

I recently realized that our two core community practices here at the Hub—the Check-in and the guided meditation—are deeply connected.

In both, the invitation is the same: place your awareness on your inner reality—how you truly feel—rather than getting lost in external cues.

During the Check-in, when it’s not your turn, you practice non-interference. You listen without interrupting, judging, fixing, or analyzing.

Meditation works the same way. It’s simply not the mind’s turn to speak. Your feelings, emotions, and sensations are having their own Check-in, and your role is to stay present, stay quiet, and listen until they are fully expressed.

In this talk, I share what it really means to cultivate awareness of your inner world—and how learning to feel without thinking can genuinely transform your life.

This is “Recuerdamores,” an original song by Nacha, recorded at The Jungle Hub while she was volunteering with us in the Costa Rican jungle. 🌿✨

Nacha first shared the song with me on a phone recording of herself singing and playing it on her ukulele. Since she didn’t have the instrument with her, I arranged and recorded the full accompaniment on my electric piano, helping bring her beautiful composition to life.

The song is a heartfelt reflection on love, memory, healing, and gratitude. It tells the story of remembering someone who once meant everything, moving through the pain of separation, and ultimately finding peace, growth, and appreciation for all that relationship taught her. It’s about letting go with love, honoring the past, and wishing the best for someone who changed your life forever.

I recently had the joy of hosting an incredibly talented volunteer, Angela, whose artistic energy was so contagious that it sparked an explosion of creativity in me as well. On just her second day here, she asked me over dinner: “What is a song that speaks to your soul?”
Without hesitation, I answered: Arbolito Divino by Nick Barbachano — my favorite song of all time.

What happened next felt like magic. We decided to collaborate and bring my own version of the song to life together. Since our time was short, I quickly created a rough mockup so Angela could record her backing vocals before she left. Afterward, I took the time to carefully build, arrange, and record the full version of the song.

Today, I’m excited to finally share it with you. This recording was the result of inspiration, spontaneity, and the beautiful creative connection that music can create between people who cross paths at just the right moment.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it. 🎶🌿
