LagunaVista Villas, a tropical rainforest lodge located in Playa Carate on the southwest Pacific coa

Welcome to LagunaVista lodge, a private wildlife refuge on the tropical southwest Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Overlooking Playa Carate and a freshwater lagoon, LagunaVista lodge is a gateway to Corcovado National Park, one of the most bio-diverse places on our planet and a popular area for eco-tourists and researchers alike. Spectacular scenery, lush rainforest and the abundant wildlife of Corcovado National Park attract international visitors to this unspoiled paradise, one of the few primary lowland rainforests remaining in the tropics. LagunaVista’s Mediterranean style villas, solar powered and eco-friendly, provide superior accommodation in comfortable surroundings. From your villa deck, panoramic vistas of the rainforest, lagoon, beach, ocean and sky unfold before you. Kayak across our fresh water lagoon to a coconut tree beach. Watch marine, aquatic & rainforest wildlife on daily display. Whales and dolphins, turtles and toucans, caimans, spoonbills, monkeys and macaws … all can be seen at LagunaVista. Relax beside our infinity pool, the perfect ending to your day’s adventures whether kayaking or surfing, hiking the Corcovado trails, rivers and waterfalls, bird watching, fishing, beach combing, or horseback riding and gold panning in Carate river. Or merely laze in your deck hammock watching pelicans surfing the endless horizon.

One of our spider monkeys enjoying a palm fruit breakfast here at LagunaVista this morning. Apparently, hanging upside down by your tail while spread-eagled aids digestion. You live and you learn 🤔

Our redhead and blackhead vultures recharging their solar batteries before taking their flights which, due to current energy restrictions, only allow them to take carrion 😉
