Meet the Montezuma oropendola — one of Costa Rica’s most distinctive birds, and a permanent resident at Vayu.

That liquid, cascading call you’re hearing? The males produce it mid-bow, rocking their whole body forward as they sing. Colonial nesters, they weave hanging nests up to six feet long from treetops — you’ll spot them throughout the property.

No alarm clock needed here.

The guests who come to Vayu tend to arrive a little tired — from their jobs, their routines, the pace of their lives back home. By the second morning, something shifts. They slow down. They linger at the pool. They stop checking their phones. We can't explain exactly what does it... the jungle, the quiet, the constant flow of water in the area, the ease of it .... but we've watched it happen enough times to know it's real.

Luxury, to us, has always meant something specific: the feeling that the world has slowed down and you're finally in it.
Our gardens didn't come from a design catalog... they grew here, wild and deliberate at once.
The red ginger, the elephant ears, the palms catching golden hour. We just made sure there was a staircase running through the middle of it all, and a place to land at the top.
