Last week, taku hosted a very special Sommelier Battle: newly certified Sommelier and Sous Chef Nicolai Kais challenged taku Restaurant Manager and Sommelier Daniel Malskorn in a five course pairing duel alongside an exceptional menu by Mirko Gaul. 🍽️
Faced with challenging ingredients such as matcha, sudachi, buttermilk and caviar, both competitors presented highly individual and often surprisingly contrasting wine pairings. The result: lively discussions, unexpected discoveries and an incredibly close race. In the end, Daniel Malskorn claimed the victory by a narrow margin. Congratulations! 👏
