Montemar Eco Luxury Villas, Galapagos

Montemar Eco Luxury Villas, Galapagos Montemar has two beautifully appointed, 100% eco-efficient villas, in the land of Giant Tortoises. I Montemar is also a zero single-use plastic property.

A few reasons why Montemar is your best choice in Galapagos:

* By having only two Villas in our wide open 18-hectare property, for a total maximum capacity of 12 guests, Montemar offers the privacy and exclusivity that is now so appreciated. The experience we offer our guests is a ‘home-away-from-home’ in Galapagos, in a privileged area where the iconic Galapagos Giant Tortoises roam freely, whic

h offers a great connection with nature.

* Our guests enjoy the personalized attention of our owners, Reyna and Roberto, who create unique and meaningful experiences in the Galapagos, using their knowledge, experience and passion for the islands. Having local owners also means having access to their connections with the community, and this is reflected in the activities developed exclusively for our guests. All our trips are carefully planned and tailored to each client.

* Montemar is at the forefront of sustainability in Galapagos. We produce most of our energy, we collect all the rainwater, we treat all of our wastewater and we have used mainly local materials for the construction of our villas. Our biodynamic and organic garden produces most of what is consumed at the guest table, including our own organic coffee. https://what3words.com/measurable.independently.renewables

We never wanted Montemar to be simply somewhere you sleep between excursions.
For us, a journey begins by listening.
How do you like to travel? What makes you curious? What does your family need right now? What would make this trip meaningful to you?
From there, food, exploration, wellness, nature and the quiet moments in between become part of one experience.
And if the plan needs to change, it changes.
Because we don’t believe every guest should see the same Galápagos.
We want to help you discover yours.

Conservation is often explained through species, ecosystems and statistics.
But behind it are people.
People who grew up here. People who work on the sea. People who notice what is changing. People who decide that protecting these islands is part of their everyday responsibility.
Through organizations like Frente Insular, conservation gains something statistics alone can never give it:
a human face.
Because protecting extraordinary places is ultimately built from many ordinary acts of care.

This iguana seems to understand something many of us forget.
Not every beautiful day needs a plan.
Galápagos can be extraordinary without filling every hour with somewhere to go, something to see or something to accomplish.
Sometimes the island’s best lesson is much simpler:
Find a good spot.
Slow down.
And stay there for a while.

At Montemar, wellness can also mean trying something different.

Through sound and vibration, we create a moment to slow down, listen, and reconnect with the body.

It’s simple, immersive, and different for everyone.

Sometimes changing the way you experience a moment starts by changing what you pay attention to.

Giant tortoises have been moving between the coast and the highlands of Santa Cruz long before Montemar existed.
We happen to live along one of those ancient routes.
Over the years, restoring this land has meant making space for them to move through it again — removing invasive vegetation and allowing the landscape to recover.
So tortoises here aren’t something we travel somewhere to see.
They are our neighbors.
And living among them is a daily reminder that this landscape was theirs long before it was ours.

Family time doesn’t always need another activity.
Sometimes it’s simply about slowing down together.
A morning without schedules. A few stretches. Someone losing balance. Someone laughing. Children copying the adults — or the other way around.
Because reconnecting isn’t always about doing more together.
Sometimes it begins when everyone finally has nowhere else to be.

When we first planted coffee at Montemar, the goal was never only to produce a good cup.
Coffee became part of a larger idea: helping finance the restoration of land that had been overtaken by invasive species and reopening space for giant tortoises to move through their historic habitat.
Along the way, we learned something important: farming and conservation don’t have to work against each other.
Sometimes, the more we learn to work with nature, the more nature begins working with us.

Surrounded by nature, the moment feels different.

The air slows down, the view opens up, and suddenly there is nothing to rush — just the quiet beauty of being here, fully present.

Waking up early at Montemar has its own reward.

A cool morning breeze, a quiet jog through the highlands, and a few slow-moving friends crossing your path along the way.

Here, starting the day right means moving with nature.

Sunborn Survivors

Galápagos land iguanas look like they belong to another time.

Golden, slow-moving, and perfectly adapted to the dry volcanic landscapes, they spend their days warming under the equatorial sun and feeding on cactus pads, flowers, and fruits.

They may seem ancient and still, but they are part of a living story of survival — shaped by lava, scarcity, sunlight, and time.

In the Galápagos, wildlife is not background scenery.

It is the soul of the islands.
