*The Story of Ahmed Safari Camp*
In the heart of Egypt’s magical Bahariya Oasis, there is a story that began long before tourism became popular in the desert.
Back in the 1970s, adventurous travelers would arrive in Bahariya Oasis on their own, driving across the desert in search of authentic experiences. Many of them needed guidance, transportation, and local knowledge. They soon met a remarkable man: Haj Ahmed Abdel Rahim.
Ahmed was a schoolteacher who spoke English, a rare skill in the oasis at that time. He was also the only person in the area who owned a Toyota Land Cruiser pickup truck, which he used to transport people between the oases. Driven by his love for the desert and a genuine spirit of hospitality, Ahmed helped visitors whenever they needed assistance—never expecting anything in return.
His kindness, knowledge of the desert, and passion for adventure left a lasting impression on travelers. Before long, tourists began calling him “Ahmed Safari.” The name stayed with him and eventually became part of his legacy.
During the 1980s, Ahmed turned his passion into a mission. He began organizing safari journeys across the breathtaking landscapes of the Western Desert and started building a small camp where he could welcome his guests and friends. What began as a humble desert retreat soon became a gathering place for travelers seeking authentic desert experiences.
In the 1990s, the family business officially took shape. Ahmed’s sons—Ezzaldin, Essam, and BadrEldin—joined him, sharing the same values of hospitality, respect for nature, and love for the desert. Together, they expanded the camp and continued creating unforgettable adventures for visitors from around the world.
Today, Ahmed Safari Camp remains a proud family-run destination, built on generations of experience, warm hospitality, and a deep connection to the desert. What started as one man’s simple act of helping travelers has grown into a lasting tradition that continues to welcome guests from every corner of the globe.
