Both films used Tenerife, but for different reasons and at different times. Wrath of the Titans shot there in early summer twenty eleven, recreating ancient Greece across Teide National Park, the Ucanca Valley, the San Jose mines, the Chío pine forest, and the Los Gigantes cliffs, plus the fishing village of Abades. It also used La Gomera, Welsh quarries, Shepperton Studios, and even Torres del Paine in Chilean Patagonia, releasing March thirtieth, twenty twelve.
Wonder Woman nineteen eighty-four came later, in late September to early October twenty eighteen, using Isla Baja in the northwest, places like Garachico, Los Silos, and the Teno massif for the young Diana’s Amazon Games race, while Fuerteventura handled the beach and dune scenes standing in for Egypt. It also shot in Washington DC, Virginia, Leavesden, and Almería, coming out in December twenty twenty.
Fun twist: Tenerife’s tax incentives are a big part of why both productions chose it, not just the scenery.
