In 1986 the Fairfield Wastewater Treatment Plant required a cable management system for outdoors. ⠀

The offered solution: Unex Cable Tray 66 in U23X (Grey RAL 7030 colour) which was installed throughout the plant.⠀
⠀
In 2012 and in 2017, a group of engineers of Unex revisited the site to see how our cable trays have performed under the harsh, Australian sunlight and scorching, summer temperatures, over such a long period of time. ⠀

Conclusion: After more than 30 years it still performs as perfectly as the day it was installed.

How can an industrial photovoltaic installation be carried out on a roof that is more than 30 years old without compromising its integrity? ☀️🏭

In this project, every technical decision had a clear objective: to ensure a safe, durable installation designed to operate efficiently for many years to come.

The plant includes 232 photovoltaic panels installed on an existing industrial roof, where one of the main challenges was avoiding perforations that could affect the roof’s watertightness or compromise future maintenance.

To achieve this, insulating solutions and installation systems were selected to streamline assembly, improve safety, and optimize the long-term performance of the installation.

Our Insulating cable tray 66 and rooftop supports made it possible to route and protect the electrical wiring without drilling into the roof, while also simplifying fire barrier crossings and direction changes during installation.

In addition, our Cable ties 22 and 22HD, suitable for outdoors and UV resistant, were used to secure outdoor wiring, ensuring reliable fastening even in demanding environmental conditions.

Beyond functionality and ease of installation, another key factor in the material selection process was the commitment to electrically insulating solutions with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), aligned with a more sustainable and efficient installation approach.

The result: a photovoltaic installation designed to maximize energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and simplify both installation and future maintenance.
