Did you know that the district of Sant Martí holds some of the deepest industrial roots in Spain?

Back in the late 19th century, during the Industrial Revolution, this area, specifically the sub-neighborhood of Poblenou was packed with textile mills, brick chimneys, and iron foundries, earning it the nickname the "Catalan Manchester."

Fast forward to today:
The grand brick factories haven't disappeared; they’ve been beautifully transformed into art galleries, tech hubs, artisan bakeries, and design studios.
Sant Martí bridges the historic icons of Barcelona (like Hospital de Sant Pau and Sagrada Família) with peaceful, tree-lined residential streets.
It connects directly down to the Mediterranean coast, giving you easy access to the beaches away from the dense center crowds.

Staying at Jazz BCN means experiencing authentic local neighborhood life surrounded by rich history and modern creative energy.

Experience Sant Martí like a local.

Gaudí made Barcelona famous but he wasn't the only master of Modernisme.

While Antoni Gaudí captures the spotlight, Barcelona’s golden age of Catalan Art Nouveau (Modernisme) was shaped by a trio of visionary architects.

Staying at Jazz BCN in Sant Martí puts you right on the doorstep of incredible Modernist masterpieces created by Gaudí's brilliant contemporaries:

Lluís Domènech i Montaner (5-Min Walk)
Designer of the nearby Hospital de Sant Pau and Palau de la Música Catalana. His signature style features soaring domes, vibrant floral mosaics, and open, light-filled spaces designed to heal and inspire.

Josep Puig i Cadafalch
Famous for Casa Amatller (right next to Gaudí's Casa Batlló) and the neo-gothic Casa de les Punxes. His work blends traditional Catalan medieval motifs with bold brickwork and intricate iron sculptures.

Pere Falqués i Urpí
Ever admired those decorative wrought-iron bench-bramps along Passeig de Gràcia or Avinguda de Gaudí? You have Falqués to thank for blending street seating directly into sculptural art!

Plan your architectural escape.

One day, endless culture, and a city unified in tradition.

If you’re lucky enough to visit Barcelona on September 11th, you’ll experience one of the most culturally significant dates on the calendar: La Diada Nacional de Catalunya (the National Day of Catalonia).

Far from just a public holiday, La Diada commemorates the siege of Barcelona in 1714 and has evolved into a vibrant, peaceful celebration of Catalan identity, history, and culture.

3 Traditions You Can't Miss on La Diada:
Castellers (Human Towers): Head to major plazas (like Plaça Sant Jaume) to witness breathtaking human towers built several stories high, a UNESCO-recognized tradition built on teamwork and trust!
Floral Offerings & Music: Wreaths of yellow and red flowers are placed at the monument of Rafael Casanova, accompanied by traditional Sardana folk dances and live Catalan music throughout the streets.
A City Draped in Yellow & Red: Balconies across the city, including right here in Sant Martí are decorated with the Senyera flag, creating an unforgettable sea of color.

Have you ever witnessed a Castellers human tower in person? Tell us below! 👇

Where Architecture Meets Sound: Palau de la Música Catalana

Architecture is frozen music. 🎷✨

If there’s one landmark in Barcelona where art, history, and music collide, it’s the Palau de la Música Catalana.

Built between 1905 and 1908 by pioneer architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, this UNESCO World Heritage masterpiece was commissioned by Orfeó Català, a famous choral society, as a symbol of the Catalan cultural rebirth (Renaixença).

3 Fast Facts You Should Know Before Visiting:
The Sunlit Skylight: It features a massive, inverted stained-glass dome representing the sun and the sky. It is the only concert hall in Europe illuminated entirely by natural light during daytime hours!
Legendary Stage: Over the last century, musical titans from Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington to Igor Stravinsky and Daniel Barenboim have performed under its golden ceiling.
Modernist Detail: Look closely at the exterior, the sculptures built directly into the corner façade pay homage to ancient choral masters and traditional Catalan folklore.

Practical Visiting Info:
🎟️ Guided Tours: Available daily from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM (booking ahead is highly recommended).
🎟️ Live Shows: Evening performances range from classical symphonies and flamenco guitar to international jazz sets.
📍 Getting There: Located in the Sant Pere district, just a short 10-15 minute metro ride from Jazz BCN.

💬 Have you visited the Palau de la Música yet, or is it on your Barcelona bucket list? Let us know in the comments! 👇
