Hi, I'm Iia, biologist from Finland🐟🫶🇫🇮
I love travelling: being able to explore the world, meet new people and learn from different cultures is something super important to me. Yet travelling can be super harmful to the places we visit and to the planet generally: mass tourism causes problems with local communities and the local environment. travelling by plane is also a super booster of climate crisis: one long-distance holiday by plane creates as much emissions as one non-travelling person in one year. I have seen how the unsustainable lifestyle affects the nature I cherish so much. And I don't want to be part of it. That is why I choose to travel around Europe via land.
Land travel, especially with trains and buses, is the most sustainable way to see the world. It gives you the opportunity to see more places, and respect the places you visit in a totally new level. Also it forces you to leave the fast-pace lifestyle behind for a while, as one is not able to "teleport" from one place to another.
This world gives us so many experiences, so let's not forget to give it something back. We all can be part of the change and every action counts. We are the world🌍
