Everything you need to know about the tides! 🏝️

Have you ever laid out your towel at Sotavento only to find yourself ankle-deep in water an hour later? Or tried to find the famous natural pools of Aguas Verdes only to see them completely submerged? 😅

In Fuerteventura, tides aren't just a minor detail—they literally reshape the island every single day! Here’s a mini-guide to understanding this natural spectacle:

🔹 THE OCEAN’S DRAMATIC SHIFT 📏
Unlike the Mediterranean, where the sea barely moves, the Atlantic here can rise or fall by up to 2 meters (6.5 feet). This turns massive beaches into tiny coves and vice versa in just a few hours.

📍 THE MAGIC OF EL COTILLO 📸
This is perhaps the best place to witness the tides in action:

* At Low Tide: The lagoons north of the lighthouse become huge, crystal-clear shallow
pools-perfect for kids and snorkeling.
White sand islets appear where there was only blue water before. 🏝️

🌊 PERCHÉ IL MARE "SPARISCE" A FUERTEVENTURA?
Tutto quello che devi sapere sulle maree! 🏝️

Vi è mai capitato di stendere l'asciugamano a Sotavento e ritrovarvi con l'acqua alle caviglie dopo un'ora?
O di cercare le famose piscine naturali di Aguas Verdes e trovarle completamente sommerse? 😅

A Fuerteventura le maree non sono solo un dettaglio, ma cambiano letteralmente la forma dell’isola ogni giorno!
Ecco una mini-guida per capire questo spettacolo della natura:

🔹 L’ESCURSIONE DELL’OCEANO 📏
A differenza del Mediterraneo, dove il mare si muove di pochi centimetri, qui l’Atlantico può salire o scendere fino a 2 metri.
Questo trasforma spiagge enormi in piccole calette e viceversa nel giro di poche ore.

IL CASO MAGICO DI EL COTILLO 📸
È forse il posto dove le maree danno lo spettacolo migliore:
Con la bassa marea: Le lagune a nord del faro diventano enormi piscine di acqua cristallina e calma, perfette per i bimbi e per lo snorkeling.
Appaiono isolotti di sabbia bianca dove prima c’era solo blu. 🏝️
Con l’alta marea: L’oceano "si riprende" tutto! Le lagune si riempiono e l’acqua arriva a lambire le rocce nere vulcaniche. Se siete alla famosa Playa de la Co**ha, lo spazio per l'asciugamano si riduce drasticamente... occhio a non finire a mollo mentre fate un pisolino! 😴💦

🔹 CHI COMANDA? LA LUNA! 🌕🌑
Tutto dipende dall'attrazione gravitazionale:
Maree Sigiziali (VIVE): Con Luna Piena o Nuova, le forze si sommano e abbiamo le escursioni più forti. È il momento magico per vedere le lagune di Sotavento riempirsi completamente!

Maree di Quadratura (MORTE):
Quando la Luna è a metà, la differenza tra alta e bassa marea è minima.
🔹 PERCHÉ È IMPORTANTE SAPERLO? 🏄‍♂️
Sicurezza: Alcune grotte o spiagge selvagge (come Ajuy o Cofete) diventano inaccessibili o
pericolose con l’alta marea.

Piscine Naturali: Se volete godervi il bagno tra le rocce, dovete andarci assolutamente
durante la bassa marea.

Surf & Sport: Il vento e le onde cambiano radicalmente a seconda del livello dell'acqua.
