Rock Carved Churches OF LALIBELA 🌍
The 11 medieval monolithic cave churches of this 13th-century ‘New Jerusalem’ are situated in a mountainous region in the heart of near a traditional village with circular-shaped dwellings. Lalibela is a high place of , still today a place of pilmigrage and devotion.

The site remains in use by the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Church to this day, and it remains an important place of pilgrimage for Ethiopian Orthodox worshipers. It took 24 years to build all the 11 rock hewn churches.

This site is a UNESCO World Heritage site as it is a Black History Heritage site. Lalibela is one of the great wonders of the world as is the land of Ethiopia

Gondar is a city in northern Ethiopia. It's known for the walled Fasil Ghebbi fortress and palace compound, once the seat of Ethiopian emperors. Dominating it is the immense 17th-century castle of Emperor Fasilides, which combines Portuguese, Indian and local architectural styles. Outside the complex is Debre Berhan Selassie church, with an interior of elaborate murals, including a ceiling of faces.

“ZIon Gates are opened wide, come Ethiopians come….” is one of our Rastafari chants. On there recent return to Shashamane Ethiopia, our parents (and business partners) stopped by the guesthouse for the first time and they were pleased.

In Ethiopia, Christmas is called ‘Gena’ and it means ‘a day of glory’. The naming of the day as Gena has a direct connection with the birth of Yeshua Hamashiach the Christ.

Gena is a glorious day of joy for all Christians (and Rastafarians) in Ethiopia and all over the world.

In the Gregorian calendar, which is followed in the USA and other countries, Gena falls on January 7, but according to the Ethiopian calendar, it falls on the 29th day of the month of “Tahesass.”

This month is called Tahesass to remember the act of the three kings who made the long search of finding the birthplace of the Lord and brought him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Tahesass means “searching.”
Gena in Ethiopia is celebrated both religiously and culturally. Today, we want to send Blessings to all on this “the day or glory”
