The statue of 'The Hauntings' is now to ne seen in Albert town centre until October.

It has been on tour through London, Scotland, Ireland and Ypres and going to be back in the Somerset Hills in the UK when winter is coming.

The statue depicts the ghost story of an exhausted lost soldier wandering the Somerset Hills in search for his home.

Staying over a couple of times this year is the grand-nephew of VC recipient Major Stewart Walker Loundon Shand.

The major was killed on 1 July 1916 near the lonely tree that can be seen south of the Lochnagar Crater. While helping his soldiers out of the trench he was hit by three machine-gun bullets and sadly passed away shortly afterwards while still enthusing his men over the parapet.
For his devotion to duty he was awarded the VC.
His grave can be visited in Norfolk Cemetery, Bécourt.
