🇬🇧 A New Chapter for Poppy's Chambres d'Hôtes
After much thought, the time has come for us to close Poppy's Chambres d'Hôtes and say goodbye to the family home that has been at the heart of our lives for the past 18 years.
For 17 of those years, we have had the privilege of welcoming guests from all over the world to our little corner of Céret. Many arrived as guests and left as friends, with some returning year after year to become part of the extended Poppy's family. To all of you, thank you.
This house has been so much more than a business. It has been our family home. It has seen children grow up and fly the nest, weddings, grandchildren arriving, celebrations, laughter, difficult times and sad farewells. Most recently, we lost my mum, who was truly a force of nature and whose presence helped shape both this house and the life we built here. Many of you will remember her fondly.
What was once a very full house is now home to just Paul, me, Poppy the dog and Socks the cat. The house has been sold, and while it is hard to say goodbye to a place that holds so many memories, it feels like the right time for a new adventure.
We are not leaving the area and are looking forward to whatever comes next, including some new work opportunities. Who knows, we may even dip our toes back into holiday rentals one day!
Our final day as Poppy's Chambres d'Hôtes will be Monday 22nd June.
As part of our move, we will also be holding a Vide Maison on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June. After nearly two decades in one place, we have accumulated rather a lot of things and our next home simply won't have room for it all! We'll be pricing things realistically and hope that many treasures will find new homes.
To all our guests, friends, neighbours and supporters, thank you for being part of this chapter of our lives. Your kindness, friendship and support through both the good times and the difficult ones have meant more than you know.
