Every morning, we pick a few flowers from the garden and make a little bouquet for the rooms.

No two are ever quite the same.

Just a small touch of the season, gathered from our garden.

Apparently, we have a four-legged host. 🐾

She wasn’t part of the original plan. She is part of the family, of course, but we never thought she would play a role in Le Coin Tranquille.

But somewhere along the way, Floki became part of the Le Coin Tranquille experience.

Breakfast companion.
Welcome committee.
Professional homecomer.
Occasional star of our guests’ photos.

And, according to a few messages we’ve received...quite missed after checkout. 🤍

The garden is still in summer.

The days may be getting shorter, but there is still so much happening here.

Tomatoes ripening.
Strawberries forming.
Plants reaching in every direction.
More than enough to harvest, taste and enjoy.

It made me think about how quickly we rush towards the next season, and how social media seems to constantly push us towards what’s next.

Perhaps we don’t need to.

Perhaps we can simply enjoy the one we’re in.

For now, this is late summer.

Some places have a magic of their own.

Here, it can be a balloon drifting past your window at sunrise.

A canoe gliding quietly along the river.

A gabarre passing beneath the cliffs.

The light moving through the trees on the path behind the house.

Or simply the sound of the river, the cicadas, the leaves moving in the breeze.

There is always something to notice.

And somehow, being here makes you slow down enough to notice it.

Some evenings, the view is part of dinner.

After a long day, you walk down into the village and sit down for dinner.

The river is still.
The lights come on.
The conversation slows.

And for a little while, there is nowhere else you need to be.

Every morning, as the valley slowly wakes up, the first balloons begin to rise.
From our terraces, from La Panoramique, or simply by stepping outside, you can watch them drift quietly across the sky.

And then, as the day comes to an end, they return.

Sometimes there are several.
Sometimes just one.
And somehow, it never gets ordinary.

A little bit of magic, morning and evening, right here in La Roque-Gageac.

Some mornings begin with a basket.

A few minutes in the garden.
Sun-warmed tomatoes.
A handful of basil.

That’s often all it takes before breakfast begins.

Most of these cherry tomatoes find their way onto our breakfast table. Some are served with local cheeses, others are roasted with herbs from the garden.

At Le Coin Tranquille, the garden quietly decides what’s on the table.

Some mornings, you wake up and the sky puts on a show.
Hot air balloons drifting quietly above the Dordogne Valley, with Castelnaud watching from below.

You can take to the skies yourself, of course.

Or simply sit back and watch them float by.
Either way, it’s a pretty beautiful way to start the day.
And yes… we never get tired of it.

You don’t always have to go somewhere to have an experience. Sometimes the experience comes to you
