The East Wing rooms
Room 12 - AKA The White Room

The West Wing of the chateau is where eight of the chateau’s 15 bedrooms are located. They are the older, more historic rooms and are typically the most popular. Two are on the ground floor and six are found upstairs on either side of the grand staircase.

Hidden away, down a ground floor hallway and up the back stairs are four additional bedrooms that were created much later in the chateau’s history. While they are a bit smaller and not accessed from the main staircase, the rooms each have their own charm and since they face east, tend to be a bit cooler in the summer.

What do you think? Would you be happy with this room and view?

Elegant spaces and tables for entertaining. Mastering “La beauté de ne rien faire” et “Le bonheur de vivre" is a specialty around here. As is le canard, le foie gras, le@pain, le fromage….

Thanks again to Fran for capturing the mood so perfectly ❤️

Some places you visit. Others stay with you.
Château de Lassalle is the latter, where pool days blur into lazy evenings, where games of pétanque and croquet become a ritual, and where the southwest French sunshine and local wines have a way of making the stresses of everyday life melt away.

Thanks so much to Fran for helping to so beautifully capture this little piece of paradise ❤️

Good morning from a sunny southwest France 👋

We started the day with a 7am hike around the hills and what a lovely way to get things moving before the heat of the day settles in. The birds are singing, which is juxtaposed by the cannons sounding to keep them from eating the seeds 😂

Now it’s time to get to work! Have a nice day everyone ❤️

So what’s new? Lighting around the chateau has been an ongoing journey - a few new lights were needed the first year, we swapped bulbs to be more energy efficient and gentle to the planet, we added parking lights, lanterns up the main drive… and now we finally swapped the old solar lights that only worked when they felt like it with electricity fed lanterns with dawn dusk bulbs. What a difference it makes! 💡🤩

Following the theme of things at a chateau are never as straightforward as they seem…

When we decided to paint our front gate, it wasn’t just the choice of colour. We had to clean them first, which was not easy when the nearest tap was 500m away and we didn’t have a hose long enough to reach. After lugging buckets of water up the driveway several times, we had an offer from a neighbour (across the main road!) to connect our hoses to their tap since they were just close enough if we connected all of our collective hoses. What a timesaver that was!

With the gate being4 meters high, we also needed scaffolding which needed to be moveable to get in and out of our driveway. Total faff.

After the gates were cleaned and the old, chipped paint removed and sanded, came the painting. Having decided on black and gold vs. matching the colour of our shutters - we needed to test several versions of gold paint to get a bold enough finish.

After finishing the painting, we still felt like the gate was missing something. The pillars seemed empty without finials. We looked at different shops for something suitable and then it dawned on us that we had two stone pine cones sitting on the driveway. They always seemed out of place but were too heavy to lift 4 meters in the air. Not to be defeated, Sassan contacted a local crane operator who was willing to help us - hurrah!

Something simple took months to be completed, but it needed to be done. And I think we found a great home for the pinecones, which look like they’ve always been there.

We are happy to share that today’s episode (Series 9, episode 11) will feature our gate renovation project! It’s been a long time since we filmed it, so it will be fun to reminisce and see how it all came together! For those of you who can watch — we hope you enjoy the show with our fellow chatelaines at and ❤️
