So lovely, especially out of season

This is Monet’s home in Giverny, where the founder of Impressionism lived from 1883 until his death in 1926. The house, with its soft pink façade and green shutters, became both his refuge and his creative laboratory.

It was here that Monet designed his famous gardens, including the water lily pond and Japanese bridge that would inspire some of the most recognizable paintings in art history. The garden was not accidental. He carefully composed it like a living canvas, choosing colors, flower varieties, and seasonal blooms with the eye of a painter.

Today, the house and gardens are open to the public and preserved as part of the Fondation Claude Monet. Walking through the rooms and down the green steps into the garden offers a rare glimpse into how deeply environment shaped his work.

If you are exploring Normandy, Giverny is one of the most important artistic pilgrimage sites in France.
