There’s something beautiful about the changing of the seasons.

Summer slowly gives way to autumn.
The days become shorter, the air a little sharper, and the mountains begin to change colour.

And then, almost before we know it, winter arrives.

The first snow.
The quiet of a mountain morning.
Skis on snow, fires glowing, long lunches, good food, and even better company.

A different way to see the mountains…

There’s something pretty special about standing halfway up a cliff, looking out across the mountains, and having Mont Blanc as your backdrop. 🤍

The Tête de l’Éléphant via ferrata near Saint Jean d’Aulps is an incredible adventure — part hiking, part climbing, with ladders, cables, bridges and plenty of moments that make you think “Am I actually doing this!” 😂

And the best bit? You don’t need to be an experienced climber to discover via ferrata. With the right route, the right equipment, and a qualified guide, it’s an amazing way to experience the mountains from a completely different perspective.

Via ferrata is a serious mountain activity. Proper equipment, good weather, appropriate fitness, and, particularly for your first experience, a qualified professional guide are essential.

We absolutely loved it — the views, the adrenaline, and that huge sense of achievement when you reach the top. 💪

If you're staying in the Vallée d'Aulps this summer, make sure to add Bout du Lac to your itinerary.

We had an absolutely fantastic meal there. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, the drinks were excellent, and the service was warm and welcoming.

But the real showstopper? The setting. Nestled right by the lake, it's one of those places where you find yourself wanting to linger just a little longer.

A brilliant spot for a relaxed lunch or a special evening out. Highly recommended! 💙

As our winter season comes to a close, we’re feeling incredibly grateful (and a little emotional!) saying goodbye to our amazing seasonnaires.

Andre & Fifi have been the heart and soul of this winter — bringing energy, warmth, and unforgettable moments to every single guest who walked through our doors. It truly has been a fantastic season, and that’s largely down to them.

Now they’re off on their next adventures — heading home to Portugal, then on to the UK for cooking courses, and soon setting sail on a beautiful boat for a new chapter of hosting and life at sea. We couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead for them.

Thank you both for everything you’ve given this season — your hard work, your laughter, and the memories you’ve helped create. You’ll be hugely missed.

Here’s to an unforgettable winter and to exciting new adventures ahead!

We went to recently, and the verdict is YUM!
The food is seriously good — flavourful and clearly made with care - it scratches the british roast dinner itch; and the puddings are incredible.
It’s run by Alan, chef extraordinaire, and Stacey, who makes the best gin and tonic around 🍸
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming
Expect super friendly service that makes you want to stay all evening. It's definitely one of the best spots in Saint Jean d’Aulps for a laid-back but quality dinner.
