The kitchen is well equipped for everyday cooking, from nut cracker and garlic press to food processor and there is a four ring gas cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge freezer and ample crockery, cutlery and china are provided. The lounge area has a modern wood burning stove, and television with English FreeSat channels and DVD player. A WiFi connection will be available soon. orchids, including the elusive Bee and Pyramid varieties and Snakehead Fritillaries down by the stream from which the property gets its name. Many wild birds such as Hen Harriers, Buzzards, Golden Oriels and Hoopoes, can be seen in the woods and fields around. Hare, Wild Boar and Deer can be spotted in the fields and woodlands. The owners live in the farmhouse and are always on hand to answer any questions. Fresh eggs are available. The village has a bakery and is 1km from the property. The nearest supermarket is 4km away. Bonnefin is situated approximately 13km from Bergerac and 8km from the famous bastide town of Eymet. From your holiday gite, you will be able to visit the many chateaux and bastides of the Dordogne region, the vineyards of Bergerac, Duras and St.Emilion and the many attractions of the Dordogne region including Sarlat, Lascaux and Domme all of which are under a two hour drive. There is an excellent choice of family restaurants and auberges of character that will be well within the budget. Cooking is usually simple, fresh and delicious and include local produce such as duck, goose, plums, cepes and of course foie gras. There are many vineyards within easy reach and “Degustation” (tasting) signs dot the landscape enabling a choice to be made of your favourite tipple. Normally the area has a moderate climate with long spring and autumn seasons and summers that can be very hot! Essentially it is the heart of farming land and you can expect to see lush landscapes with spectacular fields of sunflowers and maize and through the year a wonderful variety of changing colours and hues. This superb variety of seasonal changes provides an ideal holiday location. Geographically predominant, the Lot, Garonne and Dordogne rivers are major landmarks and around these you can explore an enchanting countryside of undulating hills and vales with breathtaking and inspirational views dotted with small hilltop villages of the region. In addition to it's wines, Bergerac was an important tobacco growing centre and in the old town you can visit both the tobacco and wine museums. The town comes alive in the summer months bustling with many visitors and tourists, it is very busy at the Saturday morning and Wednesday (all day) markets and it also has an excellent choice of open air cafes, bistros and restaurants. This picturesque bastide town is well worth a visit. In the summer months there are various events held in the town, such as a wine fairs, antiques fairs, night markets, There is also a lively market on Thursday mornings. St Emillion:
Best known for it's wines, St Emillion, is also a beautiful medieval town and a world heritage site. From the tourist office, you will be able to take a guided tour of the underground monolithic church built by the benedictine monks in the 8th century and from the top of the bell tower in the town, you will be able to enjoy the splendid views across the famous vineyards.
