Some photographs need no explanation, and this is one of them. ❤️

Taken from the Singing Sands, looking out across the turquoise waters towards the Small Isles, this view captures everything we love about life at Garmoran.

The walk to the Singing Sands is a favourite with both guests and locals alike. Winding through beautiful coastal scenery then onwards through the wooded area, the reward at the end is a beach that feels almost untouched, with crystal-clear water, white sands and breathtaking views in every direction.

Sometimes it takes days, weeks or even years to fall in love with a place. Here, all it takes is a single photograph.

One glance at views like this and it's easy to understand why so many visitors return to Garmoran year after year. There is something truly magical about this corner of the West Highlands – the ever-changing light, the sea, the islands on the horizon and the feeling of space and tranquillity that is increasingly hard to find.

If a picture paints a thousand words, this one tells the whole story.

This is a really informative article about what red squirrels like to eat and how their diet changes throughout the year.

We occasionally get the odd red squirrel visiting the garden at Garmoran, having made its way across from the woodland opposite. We usually stop feeding the birds during the summer months, but after reading this, it looks like we might set up a dedicated feeding area for the squirrels instead, as summer can be a particularly challenging time for them to find enough food.

It would be lovely to encourage these wonderful little visitors to keep coming back! 🐿️

Red squirrels primarily eat seeds from plants and trees, but their diet can vary greatly throughout the year. Food is plentiful during the autumn and winter months when trees are rich with seeds and fungi are available. However, food can be scarcer during spring and summer, when their diet extends t...

For the past week I've been trying to find the time to get the tubs around Garmoran Square planted up with their summer bedding plants. Finally, a window of opportunity appeared yesterday afternoon!

There was just one slight problem... it was a bit damp and there was no real breeze. Unfortunately, although we don't like to mention the "M" word, the midges have hatched and are out in force!

Not to be defeated, I put some thought into my gardening outfit: socks over trousers, gardening gloves pulled up over my jumper, midge net tucked into my top — absolutely nowhere for them to get at my skin.

Susan 1 - Midges 0! 🏆

On a more serious note, although the midges are about, with a bit of thought and planning they don't have to spoil your outdoor activities. Cover up like I did, keep moving, make the most of breezy or sunny weather, and don't forget a smidge of Skin So Soft.

Don't let the midges win! Enjoy the outdoors and keep an eye out for the colourful summer displays appearing around Garmoran Square. 🌸🌼

The azaleas have truly outdone themselves this year in the Garmoran Garden 🌸✨

The front bed is bursting with magnificent colour, from the softest pinks to the richest oranges and vibrant yellows. A fleeting season, but one that never fails to stop us in our tracks and remind us just how beautiful nature can be.

We’re so grateful to share this spectacular display with anyone passing by and all our guests who visit Garmoran this spring. Which colour is your favourite this year? 🌿

After a busy Saturday of changeovers at Garmoran Square, it was a quick dash to Toast & Tide for their absolutely braw bagel 🌊🥯

Safe to say it was devoured in jig time after working up quite the appetite today 😅

A massive thank you as well to my No 1 sister for coming to my SOS and helping with all the changeovers today — couldn’t have done it without you 💛

One of the most beautiful details at Tioram ✨

This stunning stained glass window at Garmoran Square was inspired by the breathtaking view outside towards Ben Resipole — bringing the colours and landscape of the Highlands indoors in such a unique way 🌿⛰️

And just beyond it, you’ll find the beautiful deck where you can sit, relax and soak in that very same view for yourself. The perfect spot for a morning coffee or a peaceful evening watching the light change across the hills 💛

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at The Salen last weekend 🐾🍽️

Their Sunday roast menu included roast lamb, chicken or pork, and we both went for the lamb — it was absolutely delicious! Perfect comfort food after a morning out exploring Ardnamurchan.

The Salen is dog friendly too, so Oran being a well behaved doggies is very happy to join us 🐶

They’re open for food from 10am Tuesday–Sunday if you’re looking for somewhere cosy for breakfast, lunch or a Sunday roast.

Come on a spring walk with Oran and I from Garmoran Square as we wander up to the hill lochs above Blain 🌿✨

The hills are bursting into life just now, with beautiful wildflowers everywhere you look — from delicate primroses and dog violets to carpets of wood anemones. It really is one of the most magical times of year to be out exploring the Highlands 💛💜

We hope you enjoy this little glimpse of spring in the wild 🌼
