The Llŷn Peninsula is made for a slower pace of life, with quiet pebble beaches, winding paths across the hills and long stretches of Welsh coastline to explore. The Threshing Barn makes a lovely base for discovering it all.

Tucked at the end of a row of traditional Welsh stone cottages, this quirky retreat has plenty of character, with exposed beams, rustic stonework and stable doors.

The layout is a little different, too: bedrooms are downstairs, while the vaulted kitchen, dining and living space sits upstairs, making the most of the sea views and coastal breeze through the Juliet balcony.

There are three bedrooms sleeping six, two bathrooms and a private terrace overlooking the shared courtyard, with plenty of room for family, friends and four-legged companions.

Spend the day exploring the coast, then head back to put the kettle on and enjoy a quieter evening together.

A morning walk along Wells beach, a boat trip out to Blakeney Point to spot seals, coffee and a browse around Holt’s independent shops, and an afternoon exploring Holkham Hall…

Winter in North Norfolk is made for days like these, and Fern Cottage, tucked away in the village of Hindringham, puts them all within easy reach.

This traditional brick-and-flint cottage has five bedrooms, beamed ceilings and a farmhouse kitchen made for leisurely breakfasts and suppers that stretch long into the evening.

There’s something rather good about getting away in October.

The summer crowds have thinned, the coast feels a little wilder than usual, and the hills are turning all sorts of lovely shades of red and gold.

It’s a month that makes you want to pack a bag and disappear for a few days.

The Yorkshire Dales are absolutely beautiful this time of year, and these cosy lodges put you right in the middle of them 🍂

Surrounded by 55 acres of countryside, with walks right on your doorstep and Richmond just a 20 minute stroll away (perfect for a look around the shops and a well earned pub stop) we can’t imagine a better place to watch the seasons change.

Bring the dog, pack your favourite pair of walking boots, and make sure to leave a little room in the car for the local treats you’ll inevitably pick up along the way.

Atherstone Farmhouse is tucked away in the rural Somerset countryside, surrounded by woodland walks, cosy pubs and local c***r producers.

You can spend each day exploring, before coming home to this beautiful 17th-century thatched farmhouse, and settling in with a new book, a glass of something chilled and whatever delicious treat you picked up from the local market town.

(And if you ever fancy swapping countryside for coast, the Jurassic Coast is only around 40 minutes away, too).

A pretty lovely place to slow down for a few days this season, we think.

What long weekend plans look like at Nature’s Point on the Llŷn Peninsula.

Sea air, coastal paths, hidden beaches and, of course, the Ty Coch Inn for lunch. Then back to your own corner of the peninsula, where the only real plan is to sit and watch the light disappear.
