Join us for a three-night stay over New Year. On New Year’s Eve, we will serve a special four-course dinner beginning with Ch*****ne, followed by dancing in The Inn until late. Enjoy signature cocktails and a live DJ as we toast 2027 together. It’s not to be missed.

The next moring, blow away the cobwebs with a hike along the South Downs Way, following the River Cuckmere to Seven Sisters Country Park. Afterward, return to The Star for brunch and our legendary Bloody Mary. Alfriston offers many interesting shops to explore, including Much Ado, perhaps the finest bookshop in England. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering outstanding customer service and creating a warm, welcoming experience for guests with a can do attitude.

Salary: £13.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift patterns: 7:00am–4:00pm, 09:00am - 17:00pm or 3:00pm–9:00pm

The Star has 29 bedrooms and a based in the beautiful village of Alfriston, it is advisable that you have your own transport as there the public transport is very limited.

On Sunday 13 December, join us for dinner at The Star, followed by a stargazing experience led by renowned astronomer Jane Green. After supper, Jane will guide us to a secluded spot for a tour of the night sky. Sunday is when the spectacular Geminids Meteor Shower peaks and the night sky will light up with a myriad shooting stars. Weather permitting, a beautiful crescent Moon and a host of winter constellations will be visible up close through a telescope.
