Lilburn tower, part of Dunstanburgh castle was part of multiple rectangular towers that protected the walls of what was the biggest castle in Northumberland! 🏰

Historians say Dunstanburgh was one of the most imposing structures in any English castle, protected on one side by the sea cliffs, with a stone curtain wall, a massive gatehouse, and six towers around the outside

Reviews are such an important part of holiday lets. And let’s be honest — no one enjoys hearing anything negative, especially when you’ve poured so much blood, sweat and tears into what you do.

But the reality is… there will always be the odd hiccup. Things happen 🤷‍♂️

Over the years, we’ve arrived at places ourselves and had to clean them top to bottom before even thinking about going to bed 🤦‍♂️ (something we never want our guests to experience). And don’t even get me started on dirty handrails 🤭

It’s also made us think — every owner should spend time staying in their own property. Sleep in the beds, live in the space… because can you truly say your beds are as comfy as they should be?

We’re always learning, always improving, and always grateful. Fingers crossed our guests continue to enjoy their stays with us — and we genuinely appreciate every bit of positive feedback we receive 🙌✨

Lilac sunset skies over Dunstanburgh Castle 💜 Once the largest castle in Northumberland, Dunstanburgh is still a magnificent sight even today!

Built in the 14th century between the villages of Craster and Embleton on part of the Great Whin Sill which took advantage of the site’s natural defences and the existing earthworks of an Iron Age fort.

The castle formed a strategic northern stronghold in the region during the Wars of the Roses, but never recovered from the sieges of these campaigns and started to fall into ruin.

Now owned by English Heritage you can visit the castle ruins and see the magnificent sights along the coastline, wether you’re coming from Craster or Embleton this stretch of the Northumberland coastline towards the castle is simply breathtaking.
