Saunter back across the fields a little heavier than you started to Bow Farm and enjoy the stunning views across the beautiful Eden Valley. Sunday lunch also available. Open Wed to Sun 12 to 5pm

Welcome to the new Westmorland and Furness Way. Another great trail of spectacular views passing through Dufton!

Spectacular new 120-mile walking route to be unveiled this September

The UK’s newest long-distance walking route, the Westmorland and Furness Way, will be officially launched on 15 September 2026.

The 120-mile Westmorland and Furness Way will showcase stunning and varied landscapes, guiding walkers through the North Pennines National Landscape, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Lake District National Park and the expanse of Morecambe Bay.

The signed trail has been developed by Westmorland and Furness Council, building on the initial concept of local walker and guidebook writer, David Pitt.

Using existing trails where possible, the Westmorland and Furness Way creates a continuous route from Alston - England’s highest market town – in the north, to the majestic sandstone ruins of the 900-year old Furness Abbey in the south.

From high fells and open moorland to rolling countryside, rivers and coast, varied terrain ensures walking opportunities suitable for a range of ages and abilities.

As the walking season draws to an end a reminder that bookings for 2027 are already starting to come in, so if you are looking for specific dates for your National Trail adventure then availability is good now. Breakfast and packed lunch included in the price.

Dufton is on the Pennine Way, Pennine Journey, Teesdale Way, Ravenber Way, North West Way. Why not book an extra night as Dufton is the perfect place for a rest day, with both the Stag Inn and the Post Box Pantry a 2 minute walk away.

Perfect walk along the Ullswater Way with stunning views on land and water. Ullswater Steamers from Glenridding to Howtown. Then a gentle meander back the 7 miles along the lakeside. Fabulous!

When it's hot what better than to visit one of Cumbria's fantastic lesser known waterfalls. And even better when you have the place to yourself during the week. Ashgill Force near Alston with lots of lovely pools to cool off in. We made a circular walk of it from nearby Garrigill.

South facing garden so a real sun trap.

Pennine Potting shed enclosed garden looking particularly colourful at this time of year.

Lovely paved seating area with pretty borders.

We have an outdoor hose for muddy boots or dogs, and even have a boot warmer inside to dry off wet boots.

Located in Dufton, we're perfectly placed for the Pennine Way, Teesdale Way, Ravensber Way and Pennine Journey.

A great place to relax after a hard day's walking!
