Two excuses to visit Brougham in September!!

Firstly, see the new Tudor Byre space transformed into a vibrant exhibition with artists from EVAN showing work for the Open Studio Trail. And second, while you're here, pick up a 'Make a Snowman / Snow Woman' kit for our community Christmas exhibition and fundraiser.

There are 47 artists taking part in the Open Studios this year and we are hosting some great artists at Brougham, with work by John Anderson, Thora Talling, Linda Stanton, Valerie Powell, Miriam Page, Helen Steer Art, Red Tarn Ceramics, Isabella Lepri Ceramics, Mark Hetherington, Interlude Ceramics.

The Snowmen kits are also flying out so get making - these little bags of fun contain everything you need to make your artistic contribution to the project. Last year we displayed hundreds of little snowy figures and we're really looking forward to how this year shapes up.

Ashgill Force - tucked away near Garrigill, and well worth the clamber down.

It’s one of those waterfalls that feels properly hidden until you’re right on top of it. The burn drops over the limestone edge with the old bridge sitting above, giving the whole place that mix of Pennine grit, greenery and running water.

Did you know? Ashgill Force sits in an area shaped by both limestone geology and lead mining history, which is why this part of the North Pennines has so many sharp little scars, gills and industrial traces.

Northern Perspectives is about capturing real places across the North - from the big landmarks to the tucked-away spots that make the detour worthwhile.

Appleby Horse Fair saw a drop in the number of caravans and tents at this year’s Fair, in comparison to 2025, likely because of the mixed weather over the main days of the Fair.

🚨 CUTENESS ALERT 🚨

Meet Eden, our newest addition to Eden NPT.

This little cutie was located abandoned today in Appleby.

After being checked by vets and RSPCA colleagues, Sgt Phil Hall has officially adopted her and will be giving her a safe and loving home!
