Our first guest reviews are coming in, and we have been blown away by the feedback. 🤗

Before welcoming our first guests, we waited with bated breath to see how Sefton Place would be received. When you have poured so much into creating a place, those first few reviews mean a lot.

So far, the response has been wonderful, with 10s across the board. Guests have loved the interiors, the peaceful setting and the chance to switch off and escape. It has been just as lovely to hear that they have felt so well looked after by our friendly team.

We are chuffed to bits that guests are loving the place we have created.

Happy birthday to this amazing force of nature! 🎂

It’s impossible for anyone to truly appreciate just how much graft, sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears and passion Caroline has poured into Sefton Place, and continues to pour into it. Even today, on her birthday, she is out there with a paintbrush in hand, sorting, tidying and fixing.

Her superpower is rolling up her sleeves and getting stuck in. There has been laughter, there have been tears, and there has been heartache, but nothing has diminished her love for this building or her belief in what we are creating here.

Without people like Caroline, beautiful old buildings like this can so easily be left to rack and ruin. Sefton Place is what it is because of her care, determination and sheer hard work. She never asks for recognition and quietly gets on with it, but today we want to make sure she knows how much she is appreciated.

🍂 Autumn in Arundel. Our favourite season! 🍁

Although, to be fair, we seem to say that about every season here! Just when we think this little corner of Sussex cannot get any more beautiful, the next season comes along and gives us a whole new reason to fall in love with it. ❤️

Yesterday was one of those perfect autumn mornings. A slight chill in the air, glorious sunshine, and Arundel Farmers Market absolutely buzzing with life. ☀️

People enjoying coffee in the sunshine, visitors exploring the town, familiar faces everywhere, friends and neighbours catching up, and wonderful local businesses showcasing the very best of what this area has to offer.

We recently recorded a fascinating interview with a hugely experienced local chef (coming soon to the Visit Arundel Podcast 🎙️) who told us that autumn is one of his favourite times of year for buying local produce. So naturally, we took his advice and filled our baskets with some beautiful seasonal fruit and vegetables!

Of course, no farmers market visit would be complete without a few indulgences. My little tradition of picking up a sfogliatella from Sitalia Deli continues, and a warm pitta filled with grilled wild mushrooms, truffle mayonnaise and cheese was quite possibly the perfect breakfast for a crisp autumn morning. 😋

And perhaps the loveliest thing of all? Now that we are opening the doors at Sefton Place, we get to share all of this with our guests.

The wonderful people, the independent businesses, the local food, the changing seasons and the simple pleasure of a sunny Saturday morning in a beautiful Sussex market town.

This is the Arundel we have fallen in love with, and we cannot wait for our guests to fall in love with it too. 💚

What a fabulous (and exhausting!) few days behind the scenes at Sefton Place! 📸✨

We have had the brilliant Rachel Guthrie Joseph photographing every corner of our beautiful old building, somehow capturing not just how Sefton Place looks, but how it feels. She has done an incredible job of bringing to life everything we have been working so hard to create. We cannot wait to share the results!

There have been more outfit changes than we care to count, both for the property and for us! 😂

After months of living in caravans, bouncing between Airbnbs and pouring every waking hour into giving this Victorian beauty a new lease of life, we decided it was time for a little glow-up of our own!

After all, now that Sefton Place is dressed in its finest new clothes, it seemed only right that we dusted ourselves off, dug out our glad rags and stepped in front of the camera for a change! 🥂

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make the magic happen, often at incredibly short notice. Especially Victoria Emerson and her lovely family, and everyone who generously gave their time, talents and beautiful contributions to our bridal shoot, particularly Ch*****ne & Lace - Shoreham , Emma Events and Hire and Tony The Flower Man . We have been blown away by your kindness! ❤️

This morning, Sefton Place came to life. 💚

We were honoured to host the October meet of the Arundel Chamber of Commerce this morning.

After months of planning, building, problem solving and putting everything into bringing Sefton Place together, there was something pretty special about seeing the house finally full of people, conversation and energy.

And even better was being able to share it with the brilliant Arundel business community.

Since arriving in Arundel we have been given such a warm welcome, and we have been dying to open the doors and show everyone what we have been working on. So receiving such lovely feedback this morning genuinely meant a lot.

A little side bonus too… plenty more conversations were sparked for upcoming episodes of the Visit Arundel Podcast. 🎙️

There really are so many amazing people doing amazing things in an amazing place.

Caroline and I are notoriously bad at stopping to celebrate anything.

There is always something else to do, another challenge to tackle, another problem to solve.

But tonight, we actually took a few hours out to take stock of what has been a fairly ridiculous rollercoaster of a week. We are finishing Sefton Place, we have sold the house where we raised our family, and we have bought the house that will be a huge part of our next chapter.

That felt like it deserved dinner.

So many people have told us that we absolutely had to try Andalucia - Tapas & W**e Bar in Ferring, and tonight we finally made it.

What a brilliant little place. You walk into what looks like a tiny bar or cafe, then suddenly you are led through into this buzzing, cosy little slice of Spain.

And not one dish missed a beat.

Salt cod croquettes, lamb skewers, crispy aubergine, deep fried Manchego… everything was superb. The service was equally good too. Friendly, attentive and relaxed without ever being overbearing.

We loved it.

So much so that we booked again before we left, this time to come back with the family in a couple of weeks.

Just 15 minutes from Arundel, it is another reminder of how lucky we are to be living in this little corner of West Sussex. There is such an incredible mix of independent restaurants, pubs, cafes and food businesses on our doorstep.

A very good few hours out, and probably a reminder that we should do this sort of thing a little more often.

When all the big life moments that would normally be spread across a decade somehow decide to happen in the same seven days… 😅

We are still feeling slightly shell shocked, but also incredibly excited about what comes next.

Finishing a hotel. Selling a house. Buying a house. All within a matter of days… and at points, literally hours.

We recorded this little reel partly because we needed to document just how ridiculous this week has been 😂

And somewhere in amongst all of that, we also launched the very first episode of the Visit Arundel Podcast 🎙️
