Meet Chris from the South Downs National Park Authority 🌿
We recently had the pleasure of showing Chris around Sefton Place and sharing our vision for creating a place where nature and hospitality can thrive side by side.
From the very beginning, our ambition for Sefton Place has been about so much more than accommodation. We want to create a haven where guests can reconnect with nature, slow down, and experience the incredible wildlife and landscapes that make the South Downs so special. Already, we are seeing nature respond. Through pond regeneration, meadow creation, tree planting, and leaving areas of the grounds intentionally wild, we have welcomed an abundance of wildlife back into the gardens, turning Sefton Place into a growing sanctuary for nature.
A big part of our conversation was about how Sefton Place can support the South Downs National Park Trust’s fantastic Visitor Giving programme. This initiative enables visitors to make small voluntary contributions that fund vital nature recovery, habitat restoration, access improvements, and conservation projects across the National Park. Since launching, participating tourism businesses have helped raise thousands of pounds for projects that protect and enhance this remarkable landscape for future generations. 🌱
The opportunity to create our own little corner for nature whilst also helping to support wider landscape-scale regeneration across the South Downs has always been central to our vision. We have fallen in love with this extraordinary place and want Sefton Place to be a force for good, both within our own grounds and beyond them.
A huge thank you to Chris for his enthusiasm, encouragement, and belief in what we are trying to achieve, and to the entire team at the South Downs National Park Trust and South Downs National Park Authority for their ongoing support and guidance. We are excited to continue working together and look forward to playing our part in supporting the amazing work being done across the National Park. 💚
