We are a family run business with people at our core. At LawnsOne it is rare we come across a lawn that is beyond repair and we will only recommend re-turfing as a last resort. And although we provide a variety of lawn care services, we will never recommend a treatment you don’t need. We have to keep records of all the treatments we apply and why we have used them so we never apply anything that isn’t necessary.

Haunching – why your lawn dries out along edges

Yes – all of our fertilisers are pet-friendly, so your pet can go back onto the lawn straight after application ✅🌱

If we apply a w**d control treatment, we simply recommend keeping pets off the lawn until the product has dried on the leaf 🌿

🌱 Why isn’t my lawn doing as well as usual this spring?

We’ve had quite a few customers asking this recently — and the simple answer is the weather hasn’t been on our side this year.
April, and much of early May, have been both dry and cooler than ideal for lawn growth.

In fact, April saw only around 38% of average rainfall across England, with particularly dry conditions across the South East.

For lawns, growth relies on soil temperature and consistent moisture.
When you don’t have all the key components, things slow down:

- Seed struggles to germinate
- Recovery takes longer
- Overall growth is reduced

This is quite different to some recent years where conditions have been more consistent — but increasingly we’re seeing more swings between dry and wet periods 🌦️

The good news…
We’re now starting to see a shift. With rainfall returning and temperatures gradually increasing, conditions are becoming far more favourable for growth.

As soil moisture improves, lawns should begin to respond more consistently over the coming weeks ✅

If your lawn feels behind where it normally is at this time of year, you’re certainly not alone — it reflects the conditions we’ve seen so far.

💡 Quick‑Fire Lawn Tip: Mowing Matters 🌱

When you’re only taking a small amount off your lawn, try mowing without the grass box. Fine clippings (around 5–10mm) will easily fall back down to the soil and break down quickly, returning valuable nitrogen to the lawn — effectively giving it a natural feed.

However, if you’re cutting 11mm or more, it’s best to keep the grass box on. Larger clippings can clump together, sit on the surface, and block sunlight and air, which can weaken the grass underneath and encourage disease.

👉 Rule of thumb:
• Small trim = box off ✅
• Bigger cut = box on ✅

Mow little and often, and your lawn will thank you for it 🌿

🌱 W**d season is here

As temperatures rise, w**ds begin to grow — and we’re here to keep them under control.

As part of our treatment programme, we carry out one blanket application of selective herbicide in May/June. After this, every visit includes spot‑treating any new w**ds that appear.

W**d control is most effective in warm, dry weather 🌤️ as w**ds are actively growing and can absorb the treatment properly, allowing it to work efficiently while protecting the grass.

Treatments continue throughout the growing season until rainfall becomes more consistent and temperatures begin to drop 🌿

Kai is a very friendly and chatty young man who never fails to put a smile on the team’s faces with his bouncy, fun energy. Kai loves spending time playing American football and taking his cocker spaniel out for long walks. He’s always willing to help our customers, whether that’s cheering them up with an upbeat conversation or lending a hand with something heavy.

👩💼 Holly – Business Operations Assistant (New Enquiries)
Holly is the friendly voice behind our new enquiries and the one who helps get everything started. She loves taking her spaniel out for walks and spending time around horses whenever she can.
