Ever wondered why people used to sleep in big wooden boxes?
Probably not, but if you're interested....​

Long before central heating and modern insulation, the Hebridean box bed was the ultimate survival feature for a Scottish winter. Drafty cottages meant you needed to create your own micro-climate. Enclosing your bed in solid timber to trap body heat, keep out the damp, and offer a little privacy was the way to do it.

While they fell out of fashion in the 20th century, we thought the design was far too good to leave in the past.

​The classic box bed features in our two-person huts, adding deep mattresses, warm duvets, and skylight windows so you can stargaze right from your pillow. It’s centuries of Highland heritage, reimagined to hopefully get you the best night's sleep.

Yep, it's Matt and Roger carrying things around a field again 🙄

We admit it’s a quirky idea, but we think it’s going to be pretty special.

An old bed, out in the open, set right on the edge of the forest clearing, designed for stargazing in style.

No longer will you have to lie in the deep heather (though you still can if that's your thing). No longer will you get a crook in your neck from bending awkwardly to look up at the night sky.

Now, you can stargaze, or catch up on a good book, in absolute comfort, right on the edge of the woods.

Our Hebridean box beds are built to hopefully give you the most peaceful night’s sleep you’ll ever have away from home.

They’re cozy, surrounded by natural sounds, and offer incredible forest views right from your pillow.

Best of all? With autumn rolling in, the skylight windows directly above the bed turn your hut into the ultimate front row seat for stargazing before you drift off under the night canopy.
