Where History Began at Garthgoch.

The first recorded sheepdog trial took place in Bala on 9th October 1873, organised by the late R. J. Lloyd Price of Rhiwlas Estate, Bala

Despite the day being wet and cold, around 300 spectators gathered on the Garthgoch and Rhiwaedog fields to watch this historic event - the first sheepdog trials ever recorded in Britain.

Most of the competitors were Welsh, but the first prize went to a Scotsman, James Thompson, with his dog Tweed.
Second place went to John Jones of Hafod, and third to J. Robson.

A remarkable moment in rural history, born right here in Bala.

The alpacas enjoyed their annual spa day on Saturday!

A little update: the new grass is coming along nicely. We kindly ask everyone to please keep off the seeded areas so it can establish properly. We’re hoping to reopen the park side very soon. Thank you for your patience, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

I thought it was time to properly introduce myself seeing as I’m now in my fifth year here at Tytandderwen Caravan and Camping Park. My name is Elin, and I’m the Park Manager. My role is to make sure your stay is as comfortable, safe, and enjoyable as possible. You’ll see me around the park daily, so please feel free to stop me for a chat, ask a question, or let me know if there’s anything I can help with. I’m always happy to support you during you say.
