If you're planning a wee trip to Belfast, here's your friendly reminder that the weather doesn't always get the memo about what season we're in!

Sunshine at breakfast, rain by lunchtime, and absolutely roasting by 3pm? All perfectly normal around here. 🙃

My packing advice? Layers, comfy shoes, something waterproof and a slightly nicer outfit for heading out in the evening. Belfast has plenty of lovely places worth dressing up for! 🍸

This one is a little bit different - and that’s exactly why we love it.

Think quirky décor, great food and genuinely fab service, all wrapped up in a really welcoming, homely atmosphere. There’s so much to look at inside that even the décor becomes part of the experience. ✨

It’s the sort of place that feels cosy and full of character rather than polished and predictable - perfect when you want brunch somewhere with a bit of personality, and maybe even some of their amazing boozy options to live things up!

They're only a short dander from our front door! Practically neighbours 😉

🚶 GETTING AROUND BELFAST - do you actually need a car?
Short answer? Probably not!

One of the best things about a Belfast city break is just how easy it is to get around. The city centre is compact, loads of the places you’ll want to visit are walkable, and if your feet need a rest, there’s Metro, Glider, Belfast Bikes and taxis/Uber.

🚗 So when would I hire a car?
If you’re heading further afield - whilst the island is small, and well connected, you may have a preference to drive if you're planning to visit the Causeway Coast, explore the south of Ireland, or travel with little ones who might tire more easily on public transport.

But for a weekend spent exploring Belfast?

I’d save the hire-car money for pints & dinner! 🍻🍴

📍 𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘: 𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁?

First thing worth knowing — Belfast has two airports, and they’re very different distances from the city centre! 👀

✈️ 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 - the handy one! Just around 5 miles from the city centre and usually a quick 15–20 minute journey in.

✈️ 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 - a little further out, but easy enough once you know your options.

Both have bus, taxi/Uber and car hire options to get you into Belfast.

Our tip? If you’re only visiting Belfast for a city break, I genuinely wouldn’t bother hiring a car. Airbnb Belfast properties are within easy walking distance of the city centre, and there are plenty of ways to get around once you’re here.

We’re kicking off a new monthly feature sharing the Belfast spots we genuinely recommend to our guests - the places we actually eat, drink and spend our own time.

First up: Where would you go for a pint?

Probably the easiest recommendation I’ll ever make: WHITES TAVERN 🍺

Part of what I love about White’s is that you can pick your vibe. There’s
👉🏽 The lively B**r Hall Whites B**rhall
👉🏽 The cosy Old Tavern Whites Tavern
👉🏽 White’s Store for the Guinness purists Whites Store
👉🏽 The semi-enclosed garden when you fancy being technically outdoors without fully committing to Belfast weather 😂 Whites Garden

Add in good bar food, live music, sports if you want it and a proper Belfast atmosphere; it’s one I recommend again and again.

📍 Ask your host verdict: If you only have time for one pint in Belfast, as a Guinness drinker, I’d make it this one.

And yes, I’m fully prepared to defend that statement! 🍻
