A Tradition Slowly Fading…
Cutting turf is part of the story of rural Ireland.
For generations, families went to the bog each year, cutting, footing and saving turf to heat their homes through the winter. It was hard work, but it was also community, tradition and a deep connection to the land.
Today, far fewer people do it, but remembering these old traditions matters.
Because heritage isn’t only the buildings we restore.
It’s the stories, skills and ways of life that shaped the people who came before us.
