Well, I know you’ve all been on tenterhooks all weekend… and so have I! 😅

The results are in, and I’m thrilled to say I’ve officially passed my Grade 1 Clarinet exam! 🎶

My score was 113 — with 100 needed to pass — so we made it!

I do have to admit that I’m four points behind Ava’s score, which I’m slightly disappointed about… although she remains the undisputed clarinet star of the family. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who cheered me on, supported the berwickschoolsconcertband, and had a laugh along the way.

And Nic Prentice Music — you have the patience of a saint! Thank you for somehow getting me from complete beginner to a Grade 1 pass in just four weeks.

Together, we’ve now raised an incredible £881 for the band! 🎉

We’re so close to our £1,000 target that I can almost see the finish line. If you’d still like to support this fantastic cause and help provide opportunities for local young musicians, the donation link is still active and every pound really does make a difference.

In the meantime, it’s back to my comfort zone with a cuppa while I wait for the results! ☕🤞

Well… this just got real. 😳🎶

Tomorrow morning I’ll walk into my Grade 1 Clarinet exam carrying this programme.

Four weeks ago I couldn’t play a single note. Since then there’s been a lot of practice, a few frustrations, plenty of squeaks, and more than a little panic!

Tomorrow I’ll be performing:
🎶 Chim Chim Cher-ee
🎶 Edelweiss
🎶 Mind the Gap

Will I pass? Honestly, I have no idea.

What I do know is that this challenge has already been worth it. Not only have I learned a new skill, but together we’ve raised an incredible £741 so far for the fantastic berwickschoolsconcertband

I know how invested you all are now in the success (or otherwise!) of my Grade 1 clarinet challenge… 🎶😂

Yesterday I managed to squeeze in an actual lesson with an actual clarinet teacher! Huge thanks to nicprenticemusic for her patience and encouragement.

We worked through the two pieces that need to be played with accompaniment and even started work on the third.

Here’s the proof… although it’s perhaps not quite as polished as I’d like it to be just yet! 🙈🎶

With the exam fast approaching, every practice session counts.

What a day today turned out to be! Despite the weather the kids seemed to all have a great time enjoying all that the glendale_agricultural_society Glendale Show - Glendale Agricultural Society Children’s Countryside Day!

Special thanks to meatsnorthumberland for their butchery demonstration and supplying Dave with a steady stream of venison burgers and venison steaks!

The kids were certainly well fed!
