We’ve travelled up to the caravan for the weekend and, as always, couldn’t resist exploring a little more of beautiful Berwick-upon-Tweed.

This time we discovered Northern Edge Coffee - and what a lovely, quirky little coffee shop! ☕✨

With its exposed brickwork, comfy Chesterfield sofas and viewing window into their coffee packing area, it has loads of character and makes the perfect spot to stop for a coffee and a little rest while exploring the town and its historic walls.

🌞 And with the summer heat we've been enjoying recently, the cool interior was an absolute bonus! A lovely place to escape the heat for a while before heading back out to explore.

We’re always on the lookout for new places to recommend to our guests, and this one has definitely made the list. ❤️

☁️💚 The skies may be a little greyer today, but after the heat we've had over the last week, it's actually quite a welcome change here in Northumberland!

Days like this are perfect for pulling on a light jacket, heading out for a coastal walk, exploring Berwick's independent shops, or simply sitting back and enjoying the peaceful views. The coast has a beauty all of its own, whatever the weather. 🌊

It's wonderful to see so many of you choosing to spend your holidays with us this year. We're now fully booked until 21st August 🎉

Amazing weather today up at Berwick-Upon-Tweed with the sunshining but enough of a breeze to allow a steady walk from Coronation park to our fav cafe and then round the ramparts, before nipping to the shops and back to the caravan.

Have you done any of the local walks when visiting?

If you are a Steam train enthusiast and in Berwick-Upon-Tweed this Saturday there will be the Edinburgh Flyer travelling from York to Edinburgh and back.

There is plans for it to stop in Berwick-upon-tweed on both its northbound (around 11am) and southbound (around 7pm) journey's, so you should be able to see it along the train line if interested.

First day back of the season and some beautiful.sun even with the clouds 🌞😍

Things nobody tells you about Berwick-upon-Tweed:

1. It's changed hands between England and Scotland 13 times. The town has serious identity issues.

2. The football team plays in the Scottish league despite being in England. Because why not add to the confusion.

3. The Elizabethan walls are the most complete in Europe. You can walk the entire circuit.

4. The salmon fishing here used to be the best in Britain.

5. Three magnificent bridges cross the Tweed - OId Bridge (1624), Royal Border Bridge (1850), & Royal Tweed Bridge (1928).

6. L.S. Lowry spent his holidays here for 28 years. You can see why.

It's not a big town. But it's got proper character and a fascinating history.

Plus, you know, stunning coastline and empty beaches.

Caravan holidays are not just for families/groups, they can be for couples as well!

Pre-season prep checklist (what happens that first weekend in March):

The park's been closed all winter for maintenance. I can't access the caravan until 1st March when Haven reopens.

So that first weekend, here's what happens:

✅ Deep clean EVERYTHING (not a quick wipe - proper deep clean)
✅ Check all appliances work & PAT testing done (oven, microwave, fridge, heating)
✅ Replace any missing kitchen items
✅ Change the seasonal decor
✅ Clean windows inside and out
✅ Scrub decking and outdoor furniture
✅ Check every lightbulb (new hallway lights this year to install)
✅ Stock welcome essentials

This is what happens before you arrive. Every. Single. Season.

Because when you walk through that door, it should feel like nobody's ever stayed there before.

Clean. Fresh. Ready.

Right, here's what's happening...

First full long weekend of March (5th - 8th March), I'll be up at the caravan for the first time since November to get everything prepped and ready for our first guests.

Deep clean. Stocking essentials. Testing everything works. Making sure it's absolutely spotless for our first guests.

And I've got a question for you...

Is there anything you'd like to see?

Behind-the-scenes cleaning? Kitchen setup? Bedroom tour? Local area updates? What the caravan looks like after winter?
