Getting ready for another busy week at Kirkstyle Hotel

We’re restocking the little touches that help make every stay that bit more comfortable, including our Walled Garden by Gordon Castle toiletries and keeping our Nespresso coffee machines topped up and ready for arrivals.

It’s all part of making sure everything is prepared before the next guests walk through the door.

We’re looking forward to another busy week in Biggar.

Make your way back into town and spend some time exploring Biggar High Street and its fantastic independent shops.

And, of course, your four-legged friend deserves a little holiday treat too! 🦴 Pop into Healthy Pets, our local independent pet shop, and let them pick out a treat (or two!) to take back to the hotel. 🐶🛍️

A few handy reminders to help everything run smoothly:

🧳 Bag drop is available from 12pm, on the day of arrival, so you’re welcome to leave your luggage with us before heading off to enjoy the celebrations.

✨ Need somewhere to get ready?

We have facilities available for guests to freshen up and get wedding-ready before heading to the venue.

🔑 Check-in is from 3pm.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to offer early check-in, so please plan around this when organising your day.

🚕 Please arrange your transport to and from the wedding venue in advance.
Taxi and transport options around Biggar is very limited, particularly at busy weekends, so booking ahead is strongly recommended.

One of the things that makes an independent hotel a little different, is the people behind it!

Meet Janice, one of the faces you might see during your stay with us at The Kirkstyle Hotel.

Janice has been part of the team at Kirkstyle Hotel since 2024. I have two roles, customer facing so you will see me at reception and at breakfast and I support guests over the phone and by email.
I also support the business behind the scenes with bookkeeping, payroll and all things financial.

Outside of work I enjoy horse riding, all forms of dance, diy and I am studying for a degree with the Open University.

A Weekend in Biggar

Looking for a relaxed weekend away? Biggar is the perfect place to slow things down, enjoy good food and discover some brilliant independent local businesses.

Start Saturday with a wander along the High Street. One of the best things about Biggar is the number of independent shops you can explore — pop into Merry & Bright, Cloud Nine, Biggar Bookshop and Arbory Rose, along with plenty of other small local businesses dotted around the town.

Take your time browsing, pick up a gift or two, then stop for a coffee at Aroma, The Coffee Spot or Zest. And if you fancy something sweet, pop into Taylors of Biggar for an ice cream before continuing your wander.

For a little local history, visit Biggar & Upper Clydesdale Museum and discover more about the town and the surrounding area.

When evening comes around, head to The Elphinstone Hotel on the High Street for dinner and a drink before settling in for the night.

On Sunday, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading out for a walk around the Boating Pond and Public Park — a lovely way to enjoy some fresh air and a slower start to the day.

You could also check what’s on at Biggar Puppet Theatre, a much-loved local attraction and something a little different to add to your weekend.

Afterwards, take another wander through town, enjoy the surrounding countryside, or revisit any of the shops and cafés you missed the day before.

Biggar really does lend itself to an easy weekend away — independent shops, good food, local history, countryside and plenty to discover along the way.
