When you’ve been standing since 1368, you pick up a few stories along the way, and not all of them involve the living.
Over the years, The Old Crown’s Ghost File has collected spooky tales from landlords, staff, guests, owners and customers, with strange sightings and unexplained goings-on throughout the building.
One of our favourites comes from former chef Dennis. One morning, while getting ready for work, he spotted an elderly woman sitting by the well. He watched as she stood up, walked towards a locked restaurant door… and disappeared straight through it. 😳
Dennis was so freaked out he locked himself in the disabled toilet for around 20 minutes, refusing to come out until someone else arrived.
And apparently, that wasn't the last strange encounter in the pub… After more than 650 years, we reckon a few of our regulars might still be knocking about. 👀🍺
