Wow, what an incredible sight 😮

As darkness descends on the Saturday night of ORKtoberfest, Shetland’s South Mainland Up Helly Aa squad lead their galley through the narrow streets of Stromness, before setting fire to it at the south end of the town 🔥😍

Summer may be over but there's no shortage of sights and sounds to experience in Orkney throughout the year 😊

I’m just finishing off a stained glass leaded panel while having a few days off from my Workshops.
So much fun to do….. and hard work!
I’m looking forward to Wednesday when I begin the Christmas season of glass fusing!

Our exhibition Sea Stories is on display, exploring Orkney’s deep-rooted maritime connections. From shipwrecks to sea magic, from whale strandings to the Southern Ocean, the thread which ties these objects together is their shared connection to the sea.

Stories and objects include partial remains of the ‘Stronsay Beast’, William Speirs Bruce’s Scottish National Antarctic Expedition in 1902-1904, ‘A Tale of Two Stromnesses’, the iconic Birsay Whalebone former sculpture, ‘seller of winds’ Bessie Millie of Brinkies Brae, and ‘Wreck Mermaid’ North Ronaldsay scuba diver Kathleen Scott.
