🍐Our first bountiful crop of Pears.

We planted the orchard the first year we moved to Foxholes, it was Bridie's 16th Birthday wish. Its now the home of our Chickens and Ducks, who eagerly wait for the wind fallen fruits. Don't worry we did share some of the pears with them!

This Saturday is Michaelmas Fair Bishops Castle! The High Street will be closed and the whole town will be filled with live music, street performances, pop ups & stalls along with vintage vehicles, steam engines and processions.

Working alongside will be 'Bishop's Castle is Open' an initiative to invite pop ups into our empty shops to hopefully inspire future occupancy.

Please note there will be no parking in town for the festivities and arrivals please avoid 2-3pm as the vehicle procession will be in action!

Bishops Castle has one of the highest stargazing ratings in the country. With its rural location and by using the Long Mynd to buffer the light from East Midlands it is possible to see the Milky Way with the naked eye. We love seeing your pictures 📸

We have three converted Railway Carriages at Foxholes Campsite, each named after a station on the now closed Bishop's Castle Railway line.

Each Carriage is unique in style; can sleep up to two guests with their full sized cabin bed, has a simple kitchen and outdoor seating to take in the panoramic views.

The UK will experience a partial solar eclipse on Wednesday 12 August.

The extent of the Sun’s coverage and the timing of maximum obscuration will differ across the country. Local weather conditions may impact viewing opportunities, so it’s worth checking the forecast in advance 🌦️

Northeast Scotland will have around 88% covered just before 7pm, whilst in the far southwest of England there will be around 96% coverage just after 7:15pm.

Never look directly at the sun; use a pinhole projector or certified eclipse glasses to view it.
