After all the support, appreciation and community spirit shown throughout the weekend, it’s disappointing to see some of the behaviour afterwards.

Mardi Gras generously provided a free bar, and Trades Hotel also showed its appreciation and support to everyone involved. These gestures are a way of saying thank you to the people who help make these events possible and to the community that supports them.

It does make you question whether some people were genuinely invested in supporting the event and the community, or whether they were simply there for what they could get from it.

Respect works both ways. Appreciation works both ways. A little consideration costs nothing.

The vast majority of people were fantastic and supported the event in the right spirit, and for that we are extremely grateful. However, it’s disappointing when the actions of a few leave you wondering whether the effort, support, generosity and goodwill shown by both Mardi Gras and Trades Hotel was truly valued.
