Seeking to ensure that all gay travellers consistently receive a warm and friendly welcome, a select group of gay hoteliers have formed an association identified as ‘ BAGS ’ (Blackpool Accommodation for G**s)
Every gay visitor to Blackpool has the option to select from over 60 establishments in the BAGs association (g
uest house, hotel or holiday flat, providing well over 2,000 gay friendly bed spaces) with the assurance that the accommodation is gay owned, and the proprietor therefore fully understanding and appreciative of guests varied lifestyles and sexuality. Offering advice to those guests who may not be familiar with the Blackpool scene about the best bars, clubs etc., the BAGs members try to ensure that a visit to the Gay Capital of the North becomes a memorable one, and as enquiries for accommodation are reciprocated within the group, very few people are left disappointed! BAGs is a well established, recognised association within the Blackpool community, has its own chaired committee and written constitution and incorporates numerous associate members running many different businesses
Other holiday town gay hotels have tried a similar concept, but none have succeeded as notably as BAGS.
