Pingu is officially making a comeback.

Aardman, the award-winning studio behind Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, is teaming up with Mattel to revive the beloved stop-motion children's series.

The iconic penguin first appeared on UK screens in 1990 and became a favourite with generations of viewers thanks to his mischievous adventures in the South Pole, memorable "Noot noot!" catchphrase and colourful cast of family and friends, including little sister Pinga.

Announcing the revival, Aardman said: "There are so many stories yet to tell, we can't wait to get started."
