Press coverage keeps on rolling in for The Schoolhouse, our dashing new five-bed holiday house.

Homes & Interiors Scotland has given us a fab feature in their Nov/Dec issue. “Furniture and textiles ate sumptuous and sourced from across the globe….Straloch has a knack for blurring time.” Lovely words, thank you Mairi Mulhern

It was one helluva restoration project but articles like this, along with appreciative guest feedback, make it feel all the more worthwhile.

Today’s a washout thanks to Storm Boelo so here’s a couple of autumnal belters from last weekend. Not sure i’ve seen the colours on the island looking so magnificent. Some reflections too.

Thrilled with this spread The Times and Sunday Times focusing on the renovation of The Schoolhouse and its transformation from dilapidated primary school to classy holiday home.

Journo Ashley Davies stayed with her multi-generational family and awarded us top marks.

There’s even a shoutout for granny (Lucy’s ma) who’s responsible for much of the artwork.

It was a complex and costly three-year project so these fab reviews mean the world to us, as does the lovely guest feedback. Thank you all 😊

Who says radiators have to be boring? At The Schoolhouse, our new five-bed holiday home, we’ve been busy making a statement, one colourful room at a time.

All thanks to Castrads and their wonderful collection of vintage cast iron radiators. The kitchen ones (last pic) are very early Italian Flue models, cast in New York between 1897 and 1905, shipped to England at the turn of the century where they heated a church in Liverpool for 120 years, before being restored and starting a new life up in the Highlands.

Just back home from a fine Edinburgh evening at VisitScotland | Travel & Inspiration industry Oscars where we only went and won Best Self-Catering and Exclusive Use (Central and East Scotland) 🏆

No mean feat given the calibre of competition. The judges rated our innovations over the last year with the launch of the River Cabin and The Schoolhouse.

We’ve taken some punts of late, so It’s a big fillip for our small team. Huge thanks for your support and loyalty, it means everything.

And, yes, Lucy was sporting those lucky red heels.

And as she keeps reminding us, she starred in fashion shoots for the likes of Anthropologie and Barbour.
