A huge day for Penny and Cooper as he took to the main stage at today’s Alyth & District Agricultural Show.

The show is heavily associated with The Clydesdale Horse Society and Coops (as i like to call him) was entered into the category for one and two year old geldings and colts.

All the commotion and noise of the big day initially perturbed him but once in the ring he was as good as gold.

Delighted that The Schoolhouse, our new five-bed holiday house, has been featured .scotsman (article link in bio).

Lovely headlines: “This is a beautiful retreat that gets full interior design marks.”

One of our favourite features is the colourful reclaimed cast iron radiators. Steeped in history, some were salvaged from the old Scotland Yard and the vintage Italian Flue design kitchen ones came over on a ship from New York in the Twenties. Now they’re heating up the Highlands. Fancy that.

The knock-out views at our lunch hut just got a whole load better.

The entire end of the bothy is now glass-fronted, giving our Wild Picnic guests front-row seats as they chow down on their gourmet lunch.

It’s what designers would have us call a picture window and, boy, it certainly frames the stunning Highland view in style. It’s a game changer; the whole space feels lighter and brighter. Enjoy.

If anything demonstrates the scale of The Schoolhouse transformation it’s these incredible before and after pictures.

When we purchased the school in 2023 the place was an absolute tip. The council had let it fall into total disrepair over a twelve-year period.

Working with lead contractor, Perth-based Meldrum Construction, we set about this colossal renovation. Think Grand Designs on steroids.

Full credit to the indomitable Juliettte for some sterling project management. And keeping us sane.

The two former classrooms (where Lucy and siblings learnt their times tables) are now the kitchen and sitting room, both dreamy spaces for entertaining large groups.
