𝟔𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 🤍

On 16th September 1966, Mum and Dad got married.

They had known of each other since school, but hadn’t really spoken properly until later.

One evening, Dad gave Mum a lift home and when he got back, he told his sister Ann that he had met a beautiful lady.

60 years later, here they are.

There are so many little stories from those early days. One of Mum’s favourites is from the night of the 1966 World Cup final, when she cooked Dad dinner at her house for the first time and they watched the match together.

They still remember all those dates, when they first met, when they got engaged, anniversaries and the little moments that most people would probably forget.

But they never have.

Together they built their life here, first as a working farm and then, after many years of farming, it slowly became The Victorian Barn as it is today.

It has always been our family place and over the years we have all put our hearts into keeping it going.

Even now, they are both still very much part of it all. Dad is always busy around the farm and with his cattle and Mum is still there making sure everything is as it should be in the holiday cottages, just as she always has.

The Victorian Barn has changed so much over the years, but Mum and Dad are still at the heart of it.

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝟔𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐝.

We are so proud of everything you have built together and we love you very much.

𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

Lots of cheering, laughing, running about and making up the rules as they go along.

They didn’t know each other before they arrived, but that doesn’t matter when there’s a football goal and grass to play on.

The adults get a bit of time to sit back and relax, while the children get to be outside, make friends and have a bit of freedom, without being anywhere near a road.

Just proper summer holiday stuff.

Some guest messages really do stop you for a minute.

We recently welcomed back a guest who first stayed with us many years ago, when her son was just a baby.

This is the sort of thing that means so much to us.

Seeing families come back for years and knowing The Victorian Barn has been part of their family memories, is really special.

It was lovely that fishing became part of this stay too and even better that she had a go herself this time 🎣

A lovely 5-star Airbnb review from guests who stayed with us recently ⭐️

This was for Woodside Retreat, which works so well for group stays where everyone wants to be together but still have their own space too.

With six ensuite bedrooms, three hot tubs, well-equipped kitchens and use of our indoor pool, sauna, games rooms and countryside grounds, it’s a great base for a relaxed Dorset getaway.

Brodie’s idea of a quiet summer evening…

Laptops in Osborne Hall, swimmers in the pool by 8am and people walking around the lakes before breakfast.

We have an exclusive-use corporate group staying with us this week, travelling from London for a few days of work, team building and time together away from the usual office setting.

Osborne Hall has been set up with laptops, screens, fans and plenty of space to work, with the doors open and the countryside just outside.

Before the working day started, people were out walking the lakes, watching the swans and enjoying that quiet early-morning feel we get here, no traffic, just birds, deer, rabbits, hares, sheep and cows in the distance.

There’s also been football on the lawn, badminton and table tennis in the activity suite, early swims, food from local suppliers including Dikes Kitchen and Spitting Pig Dorset and plenty of time outside.

It’s a good reminder that a team stay doesn’t have to mean sitting in one meeting room all day.

Here, there’s space to work, space to get outside, and space to actually spend time together.

𝗔 𝟳𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗰𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹…

The Collins Family stayed with us recently for a birthday celebration and sent such a kind message afterwards:

“Thank you for a lovely stay. Your properties are so well kept and the site is great for getting together.

Lovely touch with the prosecco too!”

They also left us a handwritten note saying they had a brilliant stay, which was so lovely to find.

Jasmine works really well for family stays and celebrations, with a private hot tub, spacious living area and plenty here for everyone to enjoy.

It’s always lovely to know guests have enjoyed their time here, especially when they’ve come together for a special occasion.
