🍽️ One last week of evening dining, every night!

As October draws to a close, we’re getting ready to move into our quieter winter opening hours.

This is our last week of evening dining seven nights a week, so if you’ve been meaning to join us for dinner, there’s still time!

From 1st November until Christmas, our evening restaurant will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings only.

Whether it’s a catch-up with friends, a family meal or simply an excuse to let someone else do the cooking, we’d love to welcome you.

And don’t worry, we’re not disappearing for winter… we’re just taking things a little easier! 🌿

🐟 Fresh fish, simple flavours and a little taste of Cornwall…

Our recent Catch of the Day was beautiful hake, served with buttery new potatoes, a fresh dressed salad and our salsa verde.

Simple food, done properly – just the way we like it. 🌿

And a little reminder that our evening restaurant is open every night until the end of October, so there’s still plenty of opportunity to join us for a relaxed evening meal by the river.

From November, we’ll be moving to our quieter season opening hours, with evening dining available on Friday and Saturday nights only.

🌊 A little more behind the scenes at The Riverside…

Not everything we do behind the scenes involves food, bedrooms or looking after our guests.

Some of you may know that The Riverside made the first civilian 999 call during the devastating Boscastle flood of 2004. It’s an experience that has stayed with us and shaped how seriously we take emergency preparedness.

So, when we became aware of the withdrawal of traditional copper telephone lines and the potential implications for calling 999 during power cuts, it struck a particular chord.

For the past two years, we’ve been working quietly behind the scenes. Initially looking at how we could make The Riverside more resilient, but increasingly recognising that this affects our whole community.

You may have seen some of this work featured on BBC News, including a familiar Riverside face making an appearance on local television!

Today marks another important milestone.

Working alongside Forrabury & Minster Parish Council and some wonderful local people and organisations, we’re taking that work out into the community.

Today, the Parish Council is launching its Community Emergency Plan with an Emergency Preparedness Open Day.

It’s an opportunity to meet those involved, ask questions, learn about local risks and discover simple ways we can all be better prepared.

🍽️ A little Sunday tradition that started during Covid… and never really stopped.

During the pandemic, we were incredibly grateful for the support of our local community. Some lovely people regularly ordered takeaway Sunday roasts from us, helping to keep The Riverside going through some rather challenging times.

And we’re pleased to say that we’ve never stopped looking after them. 💚

Every Sunday, as our first carvery sitting comes to an end, we quietly set about dishing up takeaway roasts for those wonderful regulars who supported us when we needed it most.

It’s become a lovely little part of our Sunday routine.

As we head into the quieter months, we’ve got room to add a few more stops to our delivery round.

So, if you have a loved one in Boscastle who would enjoy a proper Sunday roast delivered to their door each week, we’d love to hear from you.

We normally deliver within Boscastle village between 1pm and 1.20pm every Sunday.

Whether it’s for someone who finds it difficult to get out, or simply someone who deserves a Sunday lunch without the cooking and washing up, we’re happy to help where we can.
