Half term brought the laughter. Summer is bringing the magic.

Ditch the ballet classes, the kids and the soccer-mom-taxi-service for a minute.
Sometimes you just need two days where nobody asks anything from you.
No rushing. No noise. No schedule.
Just rain on the roof, the fire going, and enough quiet to properly slow down again.
Forty Acres and it's little sister Crabtrees was made for weekends like that. 🌿

If I hear “Mummy?” one more time I’m disappearing.

Not a single “quick question.”

Not one “where is my…?”

Not even eye contact, ideally.

Just you.

A hut.

And a field that couldn’t care less about your inbox.
You light the fire (wrong, then right).
You get into the hot tub like you’ve survived something (you have).
You pick up your phone… and then realise there is absolutely nothing on it you need.
And it’s almost alarming how fast your brain goes quiet.
Like — oh.
So this is me without the background noise.
Slightly calmer. Slightly less… unhinged.
It’s not fancy.
No one’s hovering. No one’s impressed.
It just gives you your head back and sends you home a better version of yourself
(or at least a less shouty one).

No alarms. No urgency. Just that soft, early quiet where everything feels slightly more considered.
You wake up when you wake up.
Put something oversized on.
Step outside with coffee.
The air is cold in that clean, deliberate way.
The kind that makes you feel briefly like a different person.
Easter, but edited.
No hosting. No rushing. No performative fun.
Just a few days of:
– long mornings that turn into longer lunches
– a walk you didn’t plan but take anyway
– hot water, cold drinks, good sheets
– conversations that don’t need filling
And the particular luxury of having nowhere else to be.
Our shepherd’s huts are quietly set up for exactly this.
