The stars of the estate are out enjoying another beautiful day in Glen Lyon! From curious calves to our ever-photogenic Highland coos, there’s never a shortage of character in the fields at Auch.

Whether they’re grazing peacefully, posing for the camera, or simply enjoying the stunning scenery, our coos are a much-loved part of life here on the estate.

EWE WON'T BELIEVE WHERE THE BOYS ARE OFF TO!

The Auch Tups have packed their bags (mostly snacks), shown off their freshly shorn summer cuts, and are heading off to Aberfeldy for their summer holidays!

After months of hard work looking handsome and causing just the right amount of trouble, the lads have decided it's time for a well-earned break.

The itinerary includes:
Grazing with a view, Afternoon naps, Showing off to the local ewes, Avoiding anything that resembles actual work.

We can't guarantee they'll come back any wiser, but they'll certainly come back well fed! 😆

Have a great holiday, boys – and remember, what happens in Aberfeldy stays in Aberfeldy... unless someone gets a photo! 📸🐑

What a weekend at the Glen Lyon Ultra Marathon & Trail Race!

It was a pleasure to welcome runners, supporters and volunteers to the estate as they took on one of Scotland’s most spectacular and challenging ultra-marathon routes. From the 10am morning start to the final finishers crossing the line, the determination, resilience and camaraderie on display were truly inspiring.

A huge congratulations to everyone who participated, and thank you to the organisers Rocket Events, marshals and supporters who helped make the event such a success. We hope all our visitors enjoyed experiencing the beauty, wilderness and unique character of Glen Lyon along the way.

Luxury accommodation with panoramic hillside views….. courtesy of the mineral box.

These mineral boxes are placed around the estate to provide the sheep with additional minerals and trace elements that can sometimes be lacking in hill grazing alone. On a hill farm, sheep cover large areas of rough ground where forage quality can vary through the seasons, so supplements help support overall health, growth, strong lambs and good ewe condition — especially during lambing time and while rearing lambs.

That said, this wee lamb appears to have misunderstood the purpose entirely and booked itself into the all-inclusive hillside spa retreat instead!

SHORT BACK & SIDES — AUCH ESTATE STYLE 🐑

The first shear of the year is now underway at Auch Estate — with around 9,000 still to go before the season is through.

Shearing is one of the biggest jobs in the hill farming calendar and an essential part of flock management, helping keep the flock comfortable and healthy as temperatures rise through the summer months.

Long days, hard work, and plenty of wool handled before the season is finished, but a good start made.

Did you know we have 7 Munros right here on the estate?

For those new to Munro bagging, a Munro is a Scottish mountain over 3,000ft — and the hills surrounding Auch Estate offer some of the most rewarding walking in the Highlands. From long rolling ridges to steep ascents and dramatic rocky summits, each mountain has its own character, challenge and breathtaking views.

Whether you’re setting out to conquer your first Munro or adding another summit to the list, these hills offer unforgettable days in the mountains — with panoramic Highland scenery, wildlife, hidden glens and ever-changing light along the way.

However experienced you are, the Scottish mountains demand respect. Conditions can change rapidly even in summer, with mist, rain and strong winds arriving quickly at higher elevations. Some routes involve steep climbs, exposed ridges and rough terrain, so careful planning is essential.

Before heading out:
✔️ Check the mountain weather forecast
✔️ Carry appropriate clothing, food and navigation equipment and know how to use them.
✔️ Allow plenty of time for your route
✔️ Tell someone where you’re going
✔️ Turn back if conditions deteriorate

The mountains will always be there for another day.
