A big thank you to Andrew and Katy Sowton for taking the time to send us this lovely handwritten card following their recent stay at the Halfway House Inn.

They were staying with us while travelling to a family funeral, and it was a privilege to offer them a warm welcome and a little hospitality when they needed it.

❤️ A LITTLE FAVOUR FROM OUR SMALL FAMILY BUSINESS ❤️

We hate having to post things like this, but unfortunately we’re seeing an increasing number of customers booking tables and then simply not turning up.

For a small family-run business like ours, this has a BIG impact.

When you book a table, we turn away other customers because we have reserved that space especially for you. We also prepare staff, food and the restaurant around the number of bookings we have.

When a table doesn’t turn up, that opportunity to serve other customers is lost — and we can’t get that time or income back.

We completely understand that plans can change. If you can no longer make your booking, PLEASE let us know as soon as possible. A quick phone call can make a huge difference and allows us to offer the table to someone else.

📌 NEW BOOKING POLICY

From now on, groups of 6 or more will be required to pay a £40 deposit when making a booking.

The deposit will be deducted from your final bill, so this isn’t an extra charge — it simply helps protect us from large tables being booked and not attended.

We really appreciate your understanding and continued support. ❤️

We are incredibly lucky to have such wonderful customers, and we want to continue providing great food, a warm welcome and the friendly service you’ve come to expect from The Halfway House Inn.
