A striking new addition to Bridlington. ☀️⚓

This new mural has appeared in Brid, bringing a dramatic bit of maritime character to the town with a moonlit sailing ship across the side of the building.

It certainly stands out.

What do you think — do you like seeing more murals and street art like this around Yorkshire towns?

A fabulous event for the town!

The Bayle Museum - a proper survivor from medieval Bridlington.

This chunky old gatehouse was the principal entrance to Bridlington Priory, built around 1388 after Richard II gave permission for it to be crenellated. The porter once controlled who came and went, collected tolls for the priory markets, while the almoner handed out food and ale to the poor.

Remarkably, the Bayle survived when most of the priory disappeared, and today it houses a museum telling the story of Bridlington itself. One of the best bits of the old town, and very easy to overlook if your idea of Bridlington begins and ends at the seafront.
