The final countdown is on for the thirteenth running of the world’s fastest hot rod beach races, which are on Pendine Sands. Carmarthenshire over the weekend of the 12th & 13th September. It’s man and machine against the clock, timed flat out, just the way they did it back at the birth of hot rodding on the dry lakes of Southern California. In this picture by .marjoram we see John Kellett on his way to a top speed of 106.90 mph at last year’s event.
The race card is chock full of traditional hot rods, so it’s going to be a weekend of top speed action from start to finish. Tide and set-up depending, we’ll be kicking off around 10.30 each day and will run for around six hours.
Race, pit and press passes are all allocated, but you can spectate for free from outside the pits. Parking is available on the beach right by the action for a small fee payable to Pendine Council.
Photography and filming is of course ok, but drones are prohibited by the MoD. Dogs are allowed on the beach, please keep them on a lead whilst we are racing.
