October Half Term Sorted!

Yesterday was a fantastic day here at Pennywort Mill!
We welcomed a lovely group of local childminders and their little ones for an up-close and personal animal encounter, and it was a brilliant first test of this style of large group session.

The children got to meet some of our animals, enjoy a little hand feeding, and follow a treasure hunt around the smallholding with a few trick-or-treat surprises along the way.

We then slowed things down with some quieter activities, including colouring sheets and a design-your-own pumpkin to take home.
To finish the session, everyone enjoyed a picnic and some playtime in our play area - the perfect way to round off a busy morning.
It was a really nice mix of animals, exploring, seasonal fun, creative activities and free play, and it gave us plenty of ideas for future childminder, home-ed and small group sessions.

We’ll be sharing more of these over the coming weeks, alongside our private family animal encounters.

We’re delighted to officially welcome Ambria to Pennywort Mill, who’ll be helping us bring our new Animal Encounters to life.

It’s something we’ve wanted to develop for quite a while. We already have the animals, the setting and plenty of ideas - what we were missing was the time to give the experiences the attention they deserve.

That’s where Ambria comes in.
Together, we’ll be creating relaxed, hands-on animal experiences where visitors can spend proper time with some of the residents here at Pennywort Mill - meeting, feeding, grooming and learning about them, with our private encounters finishing with a walk alongside our miniature donkeys.

We’re starting small, with limited private encounters, before developing things further over the coming months.

Alongside our family experiences, we’ll also be working on dedicated opportunities for home-educated children, SEND families, childminders and community groups, giving people the chance to experience the animals and smallholding in a calm and supportive environment.

With quieter beaches, beautiful autumn colours and plenty of cosy evenings to enjoy, October is a wonderful time to visit Cornwall - and we still have some excellent availability at Pennywort Mill.

Available throughout October from Friday 2nd — including the October half-term period. Complete with its own private hot tub! 🫧

🏡 Kate’s Cottage
Available 2nd - 15th October and again from 23rd October onwards.

Both cottages sleep up to four guests and are dog-friendly at no extra charge, with enclosed outdoor areas for your four-legged companions. 🐾

Spend your days exploring the Cornish coast and countryside, then return to the warmth of your cottage for a peaceful autumn evening.

Teddy & Prudy are settling in beautifully! 🫏❤️

It hasn’t taken Teddy long to start exploring his new home and making friends with the rest of the Pennywort Mill gang!

Mum Prudy is taking it all in her stride, while little Teddy seems to think everyone he meets is a potential new best friend. 🥰

Safe to say, these two are going to fit in perfectly! ❤️🫏

A very early start, but definitely worth it! 💙🫏

Today we’re on our way home with Prudy and her gorgeous 2-month-old foal, Teddy! They are Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys and will be wonderful additions to the growing Pennywort Mill herd.

A huge thank you to our good friends at Miniature Donkeys of Denty for trusting us with these two. We can’t wait for them to settle in and become part of life here on the smallholding.

We’re looking forward to introducing them to all of our guests over the coming weeks. We have a feeling Teddy is going to steal a few hearts! 🥰
