We headed to the 12th on our PGA Championship Golf Course with Bowood PGA Professional, Harry Trusler, where the elevation, water and shape of the green all have a say before the club even leaves the bag.

Our apple trees in the Bowood House & Gardens Walled Garden may be modest in number, but every harvest has a place in the kitchen🍎

Picked from the Walled Garden and brought across the Estate to The Shelburne Restaurant, the apples are cooked down into the purée served alongside our pork dishes, bringing sweetness and acidity to the finished plate.

It is one ingredient with a very particular role, and another example of how our chefs make the most of what is grown across the Bowood Estate.

The tables were set, the fires were lit and there were plenty of reasons to come together.

Across Bowood, food, celebrations and good company filled the resort. Couples stepped inside the Kerry Suite and began picturing a wedding here, while elsewhere our South African Braai and September Social brought people together in very different ways.

Behind the scenes, the kitchens were preparing for what came next. Autumn ingredients began finding their place on the menu, including Bowood Estate venison for the first time, as the landscape outside started showing its own first signs of the season.

What happens when the season changes in the Bowood kitchen?🍂🍁

Flavours deepen, plates become warmer and ingredients from across the Estate continue to find their way into the Shelburne Restaurant.

For the first time, Bowood Estate venison features on the menu, joined by produce from the Bowood House & Gardens Kitchen Garden and honey from the Estate apiary.

It is a menu continually shaped by what is growing, being produced and available around Bowood, with richer flavours and plenty of warmth for the months ahead.

Our autumn lunch menu is now being served in the Shelburne Restaurant.
